I was thinking about the 'azimuth clock' as a badge. It connects both the clock and the armor.

Revell is my choice, I originally liked the idea of everyone building the exact kit, but different countries' availability issues made that tough. Then I was thinking of sponsorship, Revell AG has been contacted with other ideas as well, but in the long run I think the first at least should be just us. The kits are easily available and inexpensive enough. A sponsor would expect something in exchange (advertising et al) which is fine, but I can't commit to hosting a 'business' site dedicated to this and all the extras for now at least. Maybe in the future....It would be cool to be able to send an 'entrant' a box including kit, PE, glue, paint and tools and say 'build it in 24'. Wink [;)]

Question --

does "one kit" mean you can't kitbash?

Revell's early Tiger I is the REALLY early one, with the pistol port on the turret side. Revell's later Tiger I has, of course, the late cupola. So if you want to do the mainstream 43 and early 44 Tiger I, during the prime of the vehicle's life (with the early cuploa but with the escape hatch instead of the pistol port on the turret side), you have to use the early kit but the turret sides from the later kit.

It wouldn't be the end of the world, as I could do a Tunisia (or Leningrad) Tiger I, but what I had in mind was a Kursk Tiger, and the Revell kits are no good for that.

The idea was heading towards, 'just the contents of the box'. You have use the sprues or pieces from the inconspicuous area to scratch build. The challenge would be in the alterations, like making travel tracks or severe battle damage.
Use a sprue to make the hatch, it would be unique to a Revell.

I'm sorry Phil, I certainly didn't want to leave anyone out. The response to the date was positive for a large group, unfortunate for a few, which I expect would be an issue with a one day event. Just needed to get it settled.
Hopefully if this works out there will be more, with a variety of subjects.

It's a shame you couldn't let the people who are going to be at the nats or elsewhere do it the week before......as long as it's a 24 hour window...same deal, just a week before and no one sees the results 'till the main group wraps up August 9th. I had 2 other people besides myself wanting to do this build as well, but are also going to the nats. Including Phil, that's at least 4 people, and three of which have never built armor before. That's a lot of people you are missing an opportunity of corrupting!!!

This is fine with me, actually it's a great idea! I just figured a bulk of the fun will be the frenetic posting during the day of all the mishaps and such. If you are willing to keep it under wraps let's do it by all means.

If you guys could settle on a day the week before, work between 12:01 and 11:59 INCLUDING the pics I'll sit on 'em for the week and all should be fair. The details of getting me the pics, et al still has to be ironed out...and this would even be a test of the process.

Sounds great to me!!!! I hope that Phil will be able to jump back in as well. I say exactly one week prior....Sunday 12:01 A.M. to 11:59 P.M. when we send in the photos. I really appreciate you letting us do this, and I will definately keep the results under wraps, as I will probably be too busy packing for Phoenix anyways!!!! LOL So, that puts me in for thhe August 1st date....my brother will be in too, he's going to register with FSM this weekend he says. and I will e-mail Phil directly!!! Thanks again..
