Tamiya M18 hellcat my first tank. Seems to be going ok however I ran into a hitch. Instructions call for the poly caps but in looking everywhere in the kit they don't seem to be there they show their being in the bag with the rope but there not there. How critical are they and maybe I could use a substitute if I had the dimensions?
Personally, I think they are useless and usually leave them off, gluing the roadwheels on solid. Unless you plan on pushing it around the floor going "vroom, vroom", movable roadwheels are not needed.

You can probably dig through your parts box and find a set of poly caps that will work. Barring that, drill out some round object that will be of the same size and use it.

No not really,poly caps are a little too tight on the shafts so even if you wanted to go vroom vroom,they really are too tight to allow the roadwheels to rotate without damaging stuff.
it's been a while since I varoomed however I will take it under advisemen. At my age I would need a little varoom just to get back off the floor. Could you explain why the company decided to include the caps what was the intended purpose? Being my first tank just wondering..
Originally they were used on their motorized kits so the wheels still turned. I guess they just kept them a standard in case they went back to motorization, maybe.
It seems pointless since the other wheels are fixed in position
