It looks good. I'm not a German armor expert, but I like what I see.

I really liked the German armor kits that Italeri put out in the mid 1990s.

The PX had these things on clearance when I was at Leavenworth and Redstone Arsenal.

Beautiful camo and weathering.

Along with the obligatory bucket for German builds

Just outstanding work. Not having built any WW2 German armor yet I'm a little more hesitant now,tough act to follow. Are those the kit tracks Stik ?

Excellent Stik. The camo and weathering along with the mud on the road wheels and rear of the tank really bring this Panther to life. I'll be looking forward to the figures.

Rob, I know a lot of folks bag on Italeri armor kits, but I really like them. The PX at Ft Polk rarely carried Italeri, but man did they have a good selection of Tamiya kits back then.

Tony, this coming week is gonna be a bit busier than originally envisioned, so the figures may take a bit longer than thought... 

Templar, just build for yourself and have a good time with it. If you are happy with your work, that what counts! And yes, these are the kit's stiff vinyl tracks. I was suprised that I was able to get them to turn out as well as they did. 

Tiger, doing the mud is always my favorite part of weathering! What guy does not still have a bit of little kid inside of himself that still likes to play with mud!  Keep your eye open here for the figures in a week or two...

Yeah, the Hood PX, then Redstone, then Leavenworth PXs all had awesome Italeri selections and would quickly clearance them out in the 1990s. I bought kits I knew I would never build because they were under $10.

 

 

Sounds familiar. I picked up the Revell Germany 1/32 Tornado IDS at the Ft Polk PX because it was such a bargain. of course I didnt build it for several years until I had the room for it... Funny how different PX's stocked different models at that time. Like the branch manager did the ordering and not some centralized bigwig at AAFES. Except for the 1/35 M151A2 kit... every shopette had a stack of those kits for under $5! Must have been a bulk deal on them.

Was the zimmerit molded on, or aftermarket, or did you do it yourself? 

Thanks Gamera! The zimmerit is a kit option. They provid panels to go over the hull and turret, plus a few pieces that are plain or zimmed such as the mantlet, dirivers vision flap, the hull rear etc. I did thin the kit panels down a bit as they looked way too thick applied over the hull and turret sides.

Thanks again Gamera. The kit is no dog, as some say about Italeri kits, thats for sure. It sure looks like a Panther to me.
