Tiger I Interior
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, April 27, 2004 5:09 PM
I am looking for an interior picture of a Tiger I (perfer Mid) specifically the lower hull round storage racks. I am building Academy's Mid Pro Full Interior and I am not happy with this section and would like to scratch build some racks.

1st : ArmorMaster you did it again.....another great Tiger link. Thanks Big Smile [:D]
2nd : hattals, you are doing the right thing. The most obvious flaw in the Academy kit is the ammo racks. The kit racks can only have three rounds side by side, the real Tiger could have four.
Good luck with your Tiger and post some pics of the finished model.

Monrad: Yea the whole "Ammo" stowage on Academy's Tiger is, well, jacked up. The upper racks only hold 3 rounds, while the lower racks are too short. Not to mention the driver side racks look more like a tackle box than ammo stowage. I am not sure my skills are up to changing out everything, not to mention my stock in stryene over here in Korea is slim to none. Thanks again ArmorMaster, you hit the nail right on the head on that ref. site.

Thanks Wipw, I will take you up on that offer. Right now I am cutting up an old M-7 Priest that I never got around to (sorry ShermanFreak) and using other spare parts. I will email you when I get home.

Another quick questions: Are the rounds included in the kit too large? The reference has 4 tiers , I can only squeeze 3 tiers in.

The ammo boxes on the Academy Tiger are not shaped correctly or sized right. If you take a look at that article I mentioned on Missing Links, they tell you how to fix them up. The biggest problem I had is that all the sizes of plastic stock they use are in metrics, which I can't find here. So I got as close as I could in fractional inch sizes. Just let me know what you need. I haven't started mine yet, so don't know much about it other than what the two articles say. They are pretty extensive, but I think if you get the ammo storage boxes fixed, that will go a long way on having the interior look right.
