I don't remember seeing any tanks, but there were certainly a number of pictures showing wheeled APCs, probably BTR-70s or BTR-80s. Since motor rifle formations normally have integrated armour units there probably were tanks deployed as well, likely T-72s. I'm not sure what logistic vehicles they would have sent along, but I don't think you can go wrong with some Russian trucks for carrying ammo and fuel around.

The LAV 25 turret is the start point of the Coyote turret, but that's it.The Coyote is a much more advanced and sophisticated vehicle. I had the opportunity to show a gentleman who worked on the original LAV project my Coyote when I was in Camp Monteith in eastern Kosovo. The only parts he recognized were the main gun and the ammunition stowage bin and the gun controls. The same goes for the hull.

At the beginning the Russians moved into the airport at Pristina with BTR-70 and BTR-80 along with some T-72. Eventually they removed the tanks and just kept APC around. As for the LOG trucks, just about any type of military cargo or fuel truck was used. The Russians left the country around 2001 or 2002 not possitive on the date.

thanks mjohnson.
here are my plans for my 1/72 kosovo dio:
i am going to get the kit i posted above (the russian airbase trucks) they will be ready to refuel and reload a hind under the watch of a btr 70, as a canadian convoy (leopard, coyote, maybe more) passes down the nearby road. Is there anything wrong with this?

Sounds good, the only problem I can see is with the Canadian convoy you described. I'm 99% sure we didn't send any Leopards over to Kosovo as part of our contribution. The Coyote would be fine, I know we sent those, and I'm pretty sure you could add an APC or two, either M113s or maybe Grizzlys.

Leopards were in kosovo (good thing cause i bought one for my dio last weekend)

check here for more info: http://www.sfu.ca/casr/101-vehleo2a.htm

from the site:
A handful – no more than six – completed examples were sent to Kosovo (right) where their added protection was valued although they saw little service. These uparmoured Leopards were later fitted with the thermal sights and EMES18 fire-control system of the Leopard C2.

does this mean all the leopards in kosovo were up armoured?

I only saw BTR80s when i was in Bosnia a couple of years ago, none of the BTR70s but that was SFOR not KFOR. Might be worth a some more reaserch.

i was planning on getting a btr-70 cause the btr-80 was not available in 1/72. maybe i cold change the btr-70 into a btr-80.......

so many changes needed, leopard to canadian c1 (or added armour leopard), lav-25 to coyote, and now this.

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the forum Jose.
Links on the BTR-80 are fairly easy to find. Just google it. The Zvesda kit has a bunch of reviews online, so check it out.

Also, I know that AEF makes an interior set that works with the BTR 70 and 80.

I'm not aware of the Serbian army using the Shilka, but if I'm wrong, please someone correct me. Jose, I'm looking for the EXACT same thing you are, and unfortunately, these resources are not that easy to come by, considering the varied nature of the Serbian forces. They had a huge variety of vehicles, some dating back from WWII, both Allied and Axis.

Again, even Soviet infantry figures, from any period past WWII are very rare. i haven't seen any, save the ICM figs.
