The guys who restored the big tank suspect that there might have been some damage to the driver's hatch, and that's why it was put back on (backwards) before being shipped to the UK. Just a guess, but it's as good as any.

Looks like the hatch should be rotated 90 degrees to the left.

Not to be a knit-picker Ryan, but the sig under the picture saying captured King Tiger.... should say Tiger I, at least that's what it looks like to me.

'The headlights were removed, the driver's hatch was replaced by a radio operator's hatch, and the shattered loader's hatch was replaced after Fgst.Nr.250122 was captured by the British.'
I had a book from the library that covered that tank from before, during and after capture. I'll try to find the title.

Its not fair to post a question like this so late, I am 7 hours ahead of you guys so I can not get to see this until early in the morning here

The flip side is you get the early ones first or with a clearer head at least.

I think the REAL reason the hatch is wrong is because the radioman did it so he could tell the driver where to go! lol
