What're you building?
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, May 4, 2004 1:33 PM
Saw an identical thread over on Ships and such. So, what's everybody up to? Currently, I'm finishing off the Revell 1/72 Type VIIC U-Boat (hence visiting the ship site).
When I finish that, I plan on doing some 1/35 interior details for both the M3 Stuart series (trannies, ammo bins, etc.) as well as some for the M109 SP series (howitzer breech assemblies, bulkhead equipment, instrument panels, various details) These will become patterns for RTV molds to cast resin and do a LOT of each vehicle series in the future!Tongue [:P]Tongue [:P]Tongue [:P]

On deck: M3, M3A1, M3A3 full interiors. M108, M109, M109A6 marked to my gun(s).

Very last stages of the Panther. Still struggling along with the Firefly. Then will be turning my attention to my mid pro Tiger I and Elefant. After that, who knows. That will be 3 or 4 years from now at my speed. (I'm also working on several 1/72 -spare time, while the glue dries- kits

I'm building AFV Club's 8" howitzer for the Towed Gun group build. I have a bunch of projects in the works, but they are on hold as I work on this. I started that group build, so blowing it off is probably not a good idea. Smile [:)]

It's a cool kit.

How's the U-Boat coming along? Looks promising in the box, although I got a damaged kit that was missing the decals. [:0]

I'm building an Italeri Flak 43 alongside a Revell Demag D7, along with some crew and accessory kits. After that, I have to finish the dio base.
I have no clue what I'll build after that. Maybe a Pz.Kpf II

Currently working on an M3A1 welded hull mod to the Academy kit. Next up? Don't rightly know at the moment. Probably something German, PzKpfw III or IV probably, but we'll see.

Got my jagdtiger interior on hold right now , doing more resaerch on it before I attempt the scratchbuild , while I know more about it than I did a few months ago , I still don't really know that much about it I am finding . Currently doing a Marder 3 , with full aber detail , coming along slowly but surely , the Aber kit for this little gun is thouroghly complex , tiny parts as usual , its about 50% done . On order is Panther ausf G late, goodies are on order, that should be ready to start very soon , I want to do full interior on that as well with maybe a complete indy workable suspension , the current issue of AFV modeler inspired this , if you have not seen it yet be sure to check it out , that is if you are Panther fan ! After that I would like to at least begin my USS constitution , that I have had for what seems like forever . Time to try my hand at rigging a square rigger ! Oh what fun ! That big 1/72 german sub looks way too kool to pass up , that is a must build for even a hardcore armor man such as myself , what is it something like 3 feet long ? It just keeps selling out everytime a few come in , but I may get my mitts on one yet !Big Smile [:D] The stug GB is coming up in august , I want to be in on that one as well .

Larry,

The U-Boat has been a lot of fun. I'm painting it as an early war and having fun making it 'my' boat instead of one historically referenced. I had some broken rails and such, which I glued together while they were on the sprue... after that, they were fine.
It's a BIG kit at a good low price (for its size) and after market details etc. are already coming out for it. I'm sure I'll make another some day.

Spector',

I think we'd all enjoy seeing the AFV article! As for myself, a well built model of almost any kind is interesting.

Looks like we all need to quit our jobs and build instead!

I'm working on Tamiya's Sdkfz 223 for the small AFV build. I am scratchbuilding the interior, which has been quite easy thus far. I am also building Dragon's IR Panther G OOB, well more or less.
Putting my SiG33 in a dio, as well as finishing off a couple of other displays.

I am hoping to finish something soon!

I'm working on a Tamiya 1/35th Stug III Ausf G. Plan on using the 10.5 cm barrel option instead of the 7.5 cm barrel. So this is really a StuH or SturmHaubitz (assault howitzer). Using a little Eduard PE and Fruil Tracks.

I'm finishing the Trumpeter SA-2 missile on the launcher. I haven't liked the color of the missile, so I've stripped and will paint it again this week. I just started building the Tamiya King Tiger (production turret). I've been thinking hard about buying the Accurate Armour Chieftain MK-11 with Togs conversion and doing a Berlin Brigade Chieftain.
Erik "Don't fruit the beer." Newest model buys: More than I care to think about. It's time for a support group.

Working slowly on my Universal Carrier for the small AFV build. Also helping my son build his Tamiya production turret King Tiger. Need to spray some paint. Waiting patiently to get started on my Marder III M for the D-Day build.

I'm working on Tamiya's Quad and 25pdr for the Small AFV build and Towed Gun Build.
Started the Academy M3A1Stuart that I need to finish along with the Tamiya Stug IV that I think I will save for the Stug Group Build. I also have a Tamiya Leopard A4 that I started in 1984. I think it's time to finish.

Non Armor is a 1/24 scale Supra me and my son are building. I also have two planes I started in the 80's Monograms 1/48 scale F-14A tomcat and and B24D. I don't know I may have most people beat when it comes down to the length of time it takes to complete a modelSmile [:)]

Well I am finishing up a 222 for the small AFV build, then its on to the M8,, after that its the Panzer IVJ with the interior for the D-Day Build and then the Stug IV for the Stug build. Some where in all of this time I need to finish the 1/48 Thunderbird F-86 that I am still trying to figure out how to fix the wing on.

i've been trying to finish my 251/1 dio for quite awhile (darned little figures!), Close to finishing my 1/16 German greatcoat MG'er (tamiya), and am currently in the planning stages for a massive Tiger dio. I've got an Academy Tiger early Pro. Interior detail, an Academy Panzer Crew loading supplies, and a couple of Tamiya German MG-ers in a LMG bunker. I thought I could put them all in one dio in sort of a relaxed position. Loading up the tank, taking in some chow, etc. I find myself more interested in dio groundwork these days. Maybe withn the next 5 years I can get around to the scratchbuilt Ringstand I have frequent dreams about. Ryan
