Bashed, Scratched & Built
Posted by Antagonist on Friday, May 7, 2004 12:49 PM
Bless me Father for I have sinned.........
I have to admit that there is another Modeling magazine that I read. It is Military In Scale. The reason I admit this is because an article in the January 2004 issue on page 39 was the inspiration for this build. Since there is currently no available version of this great work horse, I went about rapeing several kits to come up with this project.

The base kit used for this project was Italeir's kit # 6387 Hummer avenger & Tamiya's Kit #35263 M1025 Humvee Armament Carrier. I cut a rear window into the back panel and used Squadron's clear thermaform for the window. 1/16th balsa was used to create the side panels. Note: no radio in this work horse.

Me too. Especially during the two months that FSM doesn't publish! (I hate that!!!)

MMIR is my second favorite, with AFV and Model comeing in a tie for 3rd. (They are too expensive and too scarce to be higher!)

Another great build. Congratulations.

Nice build.

I mostly read FSM (the whole subscription thing tends to help Smile [:)] but I really like TMMI, as some of their feature builds are absolutely spectacular. I like FSM much more, because their reviews use most of the kit. The TMMI guys must all be very wealthy, as I've yet to see a single build out of that mag that doesn't have a crapload of AM parts on it.

The only thing that really bugs me about MIS is that its a month late when I get it, DAm overseas boat!

Gotta admit that MIS caters much more to us Armour builders than FSM does, (FSM......are you listening people.........more armour less wingy thingy guys.)

Although MIS did go through their 'Accurate Armour or resin only' stage a few years back which, as already said, left us 'paupers' a little cold.

Cool build. You do some pretty impressive scratch building on stuff.

Cool! How did the avenger pieces turn out? I have one from Italeri, and you probably used the suspension-but how did it go? I really like this scratchbuild-though!

Im guilty too. But I do prefer FSM. It just feels... homey, somehow.

Antagonist,
The photos are a little small, but the Humvee looks great. Maybe you could post larger photos? Thanks!
