Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, May 9, 2004 9:27 PM
Greetings!
I am looking for information on this vehicle and its many uses. Did it tow crew served weapons? Was it used primarily in a suply role? Anything? I was thinking about using it in a dio with a Tiger I, Re-suppling the crew and weapon circa 1942 Russia.
I recently put up a post in the ref. forum and aint been to successful at generating any replies. Whistling [:-^] So...I thought I might try in here.
Thanks.

The Maultier (German for mule) was mainly a vehicle used to transport supplies from supply caches to forward units through the Russian mud.

So, it would be feasable to load it down with boxes of 88mm rounds, ration boxes, jerry cans and spare parts? How many men rode in these vehicles on such re-supply schleppings?

That sounds like it would be normal, ammo could possibly been loded directly onto a tank from the bed. Not sure on crew but I would assume 1 or 2 as the offloading would be handled by troops on site.
