1/72 Dragon Panther ausf. G Early
Posted by Rob Gronovius on Sunday, May 9, 2004 9:35 PM
I've actually built my first Panther tank, excluding a Bergepanther recovery vehicle I also built. This kit is the Dragon 1/72 scale Panther G early. The kit had a diecast upper and lower hull and vinyl tracks. The hull required a lot of metal filing to get the upper and lower hull to mate. The tracks were extremely tight, but the side skirts hide the lack of sag.

Another first was trying to use the airbrush for a camouflage scheme in 1/72 scale. I just free handed it since I did not feel like making any type of stencil or mask. I apologize for the poor photo quality.

Looks great! Strange that they chose to provide the kit in a medium that is so hard to work with, and then didn't get the part dimensions right. Doesn't show in the build-up.

Great job, Maj Rob! Can't see any evidence you had any problems with it. I've got the JadgPanther and the fit sounds about the same. I did get it pull together, though. Sounds like it's a common problem with their series of 1/72 Panthers.

Thanks for show us.

Super job on the paint. That looks awsome for a 1/72 scale. Nice brush work... what kind of airbrush do you holster...?

Fine job on that little cat . Never have tried 1/72 myself , they must fit in the palm of your hand huh ? Camo in that scale has got to be tough to airbrush !

Yes, it is about 3" long. Here are some in progress shots of the Sturmtiger:

I'm not sure what else to add. Love the cammo job. That's one thing about braille, you can hammer out the kits. Should save that Sturmtiger for the summer build. Big Smile [:D]Cool [8D] However, I don't blame you for wanting to finish it.
