My son wants to build a tank. He's done
a couple small planes and would like
to try a tank. Any suggestions?

I'd suggest Revell-Germany's 1/72 Pz IV. With a bit of your supervision in the track fitting stage, your son will easily build it over a week end. It's a lovely kit, and rather inexpensive! And an exciting subject too!

I would suggest Italeri kits to start with. Their quality is about B+ and They are resaonably priced. The german leopard or the american m-109 are easy. Second I would suggest most tamiya kits however they are a little more expensive. My first armor kit was a 1/35 scale heller gepard anti aircraft kit. I loved building it but the quality is not the best .I would like to add that I have not built a plane since then and that was 10 years ago...have fun...

See if you can pick up one of the older Tamiya kits like their Stuarts. They are still fairly reasonable in price and go together very well. A nice easy build for the first time out.
Happy Modelling and God Bless Robert

Another good kit to build is the Tamiya Panzer II kit. My nine year old daughter just built one and did a great job on it.

My husband just completed his first model ever. It was a tank-Revell's "Panther". it was inexpensive (under $10). He finished it in a day and had fun painting it as displayed on the box. It's a level 3 but it sounds like your son will have no problems since he has some experience already.
