I understand Zvezda and Italeri make this vehicle, which kit is superior?

I believe they are both the same kit.

As far as them being Studebakers though ..... I think they are based on the post W.W.II Zis truck from what I remember.

Right on both points, Shermanfreak. The Russian firm Alan, on the other hand, do a WW2 Katyusha based on the ZIL-5 truck. Should be possibe to kitbash this and the Italeri/ Zvezda Studebaker to produce a WW2 Studebaker Katyusha.

Right on both counts.

I have the Italeri one (an OLD box, with both a revell and italeri logo). Either way, the kit is actually fairly decent. Haven't built it yet, it's been sitting there forever, but from the looks of it, it's fairly typical of any Italeri truck, in that it has no engine, but the rest of the exterior detail is decent.

Be forewarned: there aren't any Studebaker kits in injection plastic.

The Italeri/Zvesda kit depicts a postwar truck. I think CMK makes the most accurate Studebaker kit (pricey though).
