I agree with Trukmo, the Academy kit is dodgy but a good cheap practice kit (thats what i bought it for) which can look good with persistence.

Looks good to me. I bought one of the Academy Panzer IV Ausf. H/J models last weekend. Interesting to me to see the negative comments on fit of the parts. Good thing the industry makes putty for filling.

I got my tank for <$20 at the LHS thinking this would be a good model to start with. I'm new to modeleing armor so I didn't want to spend upwards of $50 for a tank model to practice on. The bad fit of the parts will not prevent me from making the model, just gives me some more practice at filling and sanding.

Good job and really nice pictures!!!

Nice job, Rodolfo. Do you own stock in the company that makes the putty you are using? With all the putty that kit is taking, it might be a good investment! lol

Great pictures, too. Thanks for sharing them.

RTV,

or did you really build all that in 7 minutes !?!?

looks like you are doing a very good job on a tough kit!

Rodolfo, You are doing a great job with such a dog of a kit. The old Academy jobs are mostly bad copies of already bad Tamiya kits. You're strong for attempting it. Props to you...! It looks like it is coming along nicely, good work filling those gaps. I can't wait to see it painted up... Keep us posted

Peace

Hello friends:

Here another pics of my work in progress. Really without any novelty, the kit have some faults as: hatches, rear hull, rear chassis, lateral pipes, muzzle of the gun barrel, skirts of the turret missing, etc., this is a War, haa, haa, I know, this is a very old kit.

Regards,
Rodolfo

Big Smile [:D] Hello friends!

I am back again!. This time, I will start the build of the Panzer IV Ausf H (Academy 1/35). Blush [:I] I will decide the version before of paint because at this moment I don't know.

Here are the first problem of the kit; the upper rear are very short for adjusting the second part, in order to correct, both parts were filled with putty. Finally for reinforce the parts, I posted glue on the surface

The body and chassis are ready (wheels too). here you can see additional putty on the rear.

Here, I applied putty in the gun barrel for delete the lines
