This weekend is a great weekend to be at the Memorial. Surviving World War II vets are planning to come from all over the country. This will be the equivalent of those last gatherings of the Grand Army of the Republic and the Confederate Army in the years following the War Between the States. It's probably our last opportunity to honor those fighting men and women and say thanks while they're still living. They're dying at a rate of 1,056/day. If you're in the area, head on over and tell them thanks from a grateful nation. You may get the chance to hear some stories no one else will ever hear again. If you can't make it to DC, just check the schedule of your local veterans' groups' activities for the holiday. Additionally, every National Cemetary in the country will have Memorial Day events; there are over 100 of them, so head over and see what freedom costs.
