Shrimp;
Here's something else I just remembered. AJ Press has a book (actually a series) on the Tiger. Part 3 is supposed to be mostly about the interior. I have part 2 and it does not touch the interior, but has masive amounts of data otherwise. They are a little spendy. Part 3 retails for $30, but greatmodels.com sells it for $24.30. However, it's not in stock at the moment. But you can order if from them, if you're willing to wait!

Have fun;

Hey shrimp, Welcome to the Forum.

Go to greatmodels.com and click on database. Do a search for Academy Tiger, click on the links for the tigers with the interiors (they are $40+). You will find a Review 1 link on the page. Click on that and it will take you to the missinglinks website and bring up the articles about accurizing the interiors for the Academy kits. (You could go directly to the missinglinks website and look for the articles, too.) There is a lot of info in the two articles about the interiors, especially for the mid/late versions. They deal mostly with modifying the kit parts, however, but there is some scratchbuilding in there, and it may give you a starting place.

Also, there used to be a fantastic site called tiger1e.com that had a massive amount of data and cg graphics about the tiger1. It isn't there anymore. Does anyone know what happened to the site. Does it have a new name or it it gone for good?

One more also, shrimp. Go out to a search engine (I usually use google.com) and type in tiger tank. You will get hits for many sites. Weed through them and you will find lots of stuff for your Tiger.

Good luck, and happy modeling!

My modeler came to see me last night, so I asked him what color he used for the
3-tone camo of the Tiger I. He said he mixed all the 3 colors himself because there's
no specific color for any of the 3-tone. Most of the time he used Gunze thinner-based colors,
but for some models he used Tamiya's Acrylic color, and Lucas's water-based color
in case of German Gray. He suggested choosing a color that's closest to the manual
and paint your tank, then overspray it with lighter color for each of the 3-tone camo..

I'm glad you like the picture of my Tiger. As for the 3 tone camo color, since I
didn't model the tank myself, I don't know what specific color my modeler used.
I guess he mixed all the 3 colors himself, but I'll ask him to be sure and will
let you know later. This may take a week or so. My modeler also painted
my Tamiya's King Tiger (Ardennes Front) in 3-tone camo, but very different
from the Tiger's 3-tone. Please take a look at http://www.falconbbs.com/model15a.htm

Nice work. I have two of these unbuilt; each one is about 90-95 % complete for parts. I think that Trumpeter has the old Tamiya molds, and has produced the SU-100, Chieftain, and T-34. Although I have never seen one in the US, I know that a fellow from Hong Kong was selling them on eBay about a year ago. They would normally sell for $20 (US), but the shipping costs were very high.

The number was in fact S11 as you might have seen already. CU around!

Please tell Art Instructer that he/she is a great painter!
511 or 611 are what I thought might be the number on the turret of that Tiger in the background. Kinda fuzzy, so I couldn't tell.

Thanks a lot for your compliments!.
The Tiger in the background is also Academy, but Exterior version and zimmeritted by hands
by Art Instructor (the same modeler who modelled the Tiger in gray). (I don't know about the
No. 511 or 611 you mentioned, what are they?) Both Interior & Exterior Tigers
can be viewed at : http://modelmaniac.hypermart.net/model10c.htm

Art Instructor also painted my Tamiya's Tiger I Ausfuhrung Afrika (in sand color, of course).
It can be viewed at : http://www.geocities.com/model_maniac2/model13a.htm

Happy viewing and modelling!

Very very nice! Excellent paint job!
I still prefer a Tiger I in Panzer Gray, though!

Hey, what's that Tiger in the background? Looks zimmeritted. Number 511 or 611?
Let's see it!

You're welcome, J-Hulk. You like the Tiger only in Panzer Gray color?. I think it looks good
in all color schemes. Take a look at my Acedemy's Tiger I Interior version (in 3-tone camo)
esp. at the muzzles of the machine guns :

Thanks for the tips, Model Maniac.
I do have a decent Pentax SLR, but I don't have a computer!! Let alone a scanner...all the pix I've posted are those taken at shows by someone with a digital camera.
Djmodels, I would guess someone out there has some figures in 1/25, but I'm not sure. All the Tamiya kits that I've built come with figures, but sometimes the quality can be lacking.

Thanks for all your kind compliments!, I really appreciate them.

J-Hulk, if you want finest picture quality, go for SLR, not digital camera.
(SLR = Single Lenses Reflex - or conventional camera using films).
And if you want to know how could I achieve big, sharp and clear pic like
this one while only 75KB in size, please refer to my article "Behind The Scenes" :
http://www.falconbbs.com/behind.htm

djmodels1999, if you like it you may adopt it as your wallpaper. ;-)

That's a big, sharp, clear pic!!! And a great model! I like the spotty look you acheived on the front glacis.
Many may disagree, but man, I love a Tiger I done Panzer Gray!!! Save your 3-tone camo for a King Tiger!

I have a few more pix of my T, but they're all about the same quality as the one I posted.
I need to get my own digital camera...

That looks nice, man!. Perhaps you can provide more pictures of it, with higher resolution and at closer range. Here's the picture of my Italeri's Tiger I 1:35 which is big enough to be a wallpaper:

Thanks for the kind words!

Let's see...1/25 scale...
Tamiya:
Tiger
Chieftain
Centurion
T-34/85
Su-100
Panther A
Jagdpanther (late)

The Panther and Jagdpanther were both re-released (legally or not, I have no idea) by Academy.
I have all of the above except the Chieftain and the Su-100. The old Chieftain kit is veeeery expensive when found (one in a shop near here is about 300 bucks US), and I just don't like SU-100s, so I haven't built it (but they're everywhere here).

Bandai 1/24:
King Tiger (Porsche)
Panther G
M-60

I only have the King Tiger.
The Tamiya kits are all old and really need a lot of work to bring up to modern standards (aka :close to accurate!). The Bandai kits are even worse, but if you like 1/25 and 1/24, that's all there is.

They're all old kits and out of production (except the Academy copies), but Tamiya did re-release the Panther A as a radio-controlled kit a few years back.

Let's see some big scale tanks, folks!

Looks neat! And suitably weathered and worn. What else is available at that scale???
