Looking for opinions and comments
Posted by lizardqing on Monday, May 31, 2004 10:28 PM
Started to make a bit of progress again finally on the M113. Figured I would throw some gear in it and try to figure out what it needed to give it the lived in look. Here is some of the stuff that I put in it, but am open to suggestions on how to get it looking better. None of the stuff is set in glue yet so anything is possible. One thing I was wondering is would the crates that came with the Sherman kits still be a viable option for a vietnam era vehicle? Now on to the pics.

And one with the top up..

Any comments are welcome, I've got tough skin. That or I've just been around Erush to long.Big Smile [:D]

I've seen magazines and popcans among other things. I just do not know enough about contemporary US armor.

Very nice. It's comming along beautifully.
The militaria-esque equipment is spot on, but I'd add some 'human element' parts to it. How about a plate and spoon, with some uneaten leftovers. Can't get any easier to scratchbuild than that. Also, a magazine or tabloid, or even a piece of paper with pen would really make it look like someone was in there not too long ago.

If you're planning on putting this build in a desert (or any hot weather) environment, you'll need water...lot's of water! Typically, troops will carry at least one day and sometimes up to three days worth of bottled water with them. Two or three cases and some individual plastic water bottles will serve this need nicely.

The only other thing I can think of is maybe a couple of extra ammo boxes of M-16 ammo sitting out.

Edited: Oh, how about a box or two of MRE's?

Looking good,
Robert

I never saw or rode in one that didn't have a coleman cooler (or similar) to keep drinks (read beer) cold. I even heard a CP rad-op cll down radio silence so they could go to the local gasthof to replenish their supply. Also coleman lanterns, stoves etc were issue items in each track.

Thats a very neat area in there. If my flight lived in there it would be a lot messier than that... But good job!

Yea if you can call that hiding. I don't think I can hide it anywhere to well seems either it or the box keeps getting in the way of everything right now.
