First Look, Trumpeter's new 1/72 scale Ferdinand

Ok, i really really thought this would be a repackaged Dragon kit, boy was i wrong. I have built several of the dragon kits and have found them to be a great little build. However this model has all the makings of contest winner right out of the box.
Big words i know, but lets take a quick look. First is the running gear. Each one of the suspension arms is three pieces, also there is the mud clearing prong for all four sprockets. Then it is individual trak link time. These are perfectly cast, have nice fine detail, and no pour stubs or other marks to clean up. Just cut them free, clean up the ends, and you are ready to go.
There is a fret of photoetched grills, which are very nice. Almost all detail is of the added on variety, so detail is all over this thing. Instructions appear very clear, and concise. Just the armored superstructher housing the gun alone has over 30 parts including photoetched.
All in all, detail is very fine, with no flash. This kit should be a winner.
For 13.00 this is a heck of a lot of fun in one box. I plan on starting it in the next month. Look for photos.

If trumpeter's 1/72 offerings are anything like their newer 1/35, all you small-scale modelers will be very happy.

Thanks a lot for the review. I've always had a special place in my heart for the big clumsy failure of Kursk, for some strange reason, but have never built one (except some hasty 1/72nd scale builds for wargaming). This may just be the one I build.

Which vehicles do you get markings for?
