Panther G Late Zimmermit Mantlet
Posted by chazsmith on Wednesday, June 2, 2004 9:22 AM
Hi! I'm trying to locate a resin mantlet for the late model Panther G with zimmermit coating for the Tamiya kit. I've searched all the websites I'm aware of and haven't found anything with the late model "chin" mantlet - only the rounded ones. Does anyone know where I can get one or even if one exists?

Not likely... The chin mantlet was a late addition to the G after the zimmerit was discontinued.... I have never seen a late G with zimmerit...

I hope you haven't applied zim to your hull / turret and are now looking for this mantlet. Kenneth is right, Late G - no zim.

Guys:

Thanks for the feedback on the zimmermit coating. I'm still in the planning stages getting things together for the build so luckily I haven't started on the zimmermit yet. A friend had mentioned something about the late model having the chin on the mantlet and thought he saw a G with zimmermit in the Squadron Panther book. I couldn't find one in any of the references I have but I just wanted to make sure.

Thanks

Thats what we be for.... Big Smile [:D] I have a special place in my heart for Panthers so I can't wait to see yours. If you want to learn all things panther related.. go back and read the Panther GB thread when you have a couple of weeks to kill...

Yeah Kenneth is right about the zim

If you can get your hands on the AFV Modeller mag, the latest one is a Panther special

Ditto to the above post

Kenneth:

I'll be happy to post some pictures when it's done - it usually takes me 2 to 3 months to finish one since I'm really slow! I also like to put them in diorama scenes - especially the Verlinden resin bases. I need to go out and get a decent digital camera.

Jon:

Thanks for the info on the AFV Modeler mag - I'll try to pick it up.
