Critr gitr..... To start out if you buy all new or repoduction stuff, It can cost anywhere between $1500 and $2000. But if you search ebay and a couple other web buying sites you can normaly pick it all up for around $1000.

Rebel,, As far as the Vehicles goes our big event is in Sept. of this year and they will have a couple big vehicles (Tanks,,,,Armoured cars etc etc) floating around. This event is our Normandy event. And it takes place over a three day weekend. 48 hour tactical. Anything goes in that 48 hour period. As far as the noise,, heck depending on who makes your blanks, they rifles can be pretty loud,, and if you get someone that is quick on the trigger with the MG42 it sounds almost like the real thing, I'll tell you what. As far as the Bazookas go,,, I have yet to be at an event that has had one. Buddy of mine brought a couple Arty simulators with him one time and those can get loud as well. I will try to get some pics of the vehicles and of the reenactors for you guys. I will even get some pics of the not so believable stuff.

Ooooh, i wish there was WWII reenacting around here. I would love to get into it. Only have Civil War reenacting here, but that Definetly works for me!
Im not sure how much it costs to be a WWII reenactor but for us civil War reenactors its about $2,000.

Feldgrau23, whats it like to go into battle with tanks and vehicles? What do you guys use for firing bazookas?

is it very loud? probably a stupid question, if our old guns are so loud you cant here the guy next to you, even worse with artillery! But tanks, its crazy.

I was going skeet shooting one time and on my way out of civilization I saw a tiger 1 tank! YES A TIGER 1 TANK. YEP, I SAID A TIGER 1 TANK! However, it was (of course) not an original Henschel. I looked like it was t-34 converted, or converted from a bulldozer or something, but somebody had made a tiger 1 out of what looked like plywood with a hull of a t-34 or something. Imagine that! I stoped the truck and took a look at it to make sure what I was seeing was what I was believing! Yep, tiger 1, not original, but VERY good conversion. The barrel was right on the mark, with a decent looking muzzle break! It had a little manican in the commanders cupola (it was modeled after an early) and they dressed it up just like a german TC! It had the officer's cap with binoculars looking out into the distance. Every time I go by I look to see if it's there, but it never is anymore. It had red-brown and dark yellow camo on. Image doing an everyday thing and all of a sudden seeing your favorite tank on the side of the road! Cool!

Groovy Feldgrau! Maybe one day when I dont have to work so much I can get involved in re-enactment. Until then its off to the mines..... By the way, How much did it cost you to get started in re-enacting?
At my old high school there were 2 WWI/II (?) era small anti-tank pieces behind my high school. We used to play on those things as kids all day long. They tore down the school and moved them out by the highway in my friends grandpa's frontyard. They turned them into a memorial after 9/11.

For those of you interested,, You can check out Reenacting units on the Web. I do the german side and I know a couple units that have german half tracks,, one unit has a 222 and the unit I am part of has a 232. Currently it is down for repairs. Now as far as american units go,, there is one that has a sherman. Not sure which unit it is but there is one out there. At our web site www.11thpanzer.com
check out the reenacting photos and there is a picture of the sherman there,, about to be hit by a panzershreck or panzerfaust. There is also a couple pics of our 232.

I live in Kokomo Indiana and in the park downtown we have a WWII sherman tank on a cement slab. It was put there in 1958 . When I was in Junior High we used to crawl around inside of it . That is when ever we found the hatch unchained and unlocked.
Boy, there isn't much room in those things!!

A DUKW and a LVT showed up in a field I drive by all the time. I was thinking of getting a few pictures. They are in real bad condition, the LVT I think was painted yellow and the DUKW was odd green color.

Well, it turns out that with a second look, the tank is from the veitnam war. I was hoping to see a sherman, the part I saw looked like it. There was also an old track mounted WWII anti tank gun of some sort. In the rear end it had all of the shell slots, and they were probably 3.5 - 4 inches in diameter!! Nice memorial though, the sidewalks are brick with the names of veterans inscribed in them.

That is really cool! Unfortunatly for me theres not a lot around.
I HAVE NEVER SEEN A TANK IN PERSON, except for an M1that was when i was what 4 years old. It was in town for a parade or something, i don't remember anymore. I have seen soft skinned vehicles and artillery but that is it. Oh ya and a B-17...
But wherever you want to see these things, you have to drive at least 1 hr. In one case 6hrs. At the Palm Springs Air Museum. Ok, ok, it said it was an aircraft museum, but they had some soft skinned stuff and a flak 88, oh ya!!!

Well if anybody knows of an armor museum in California id like to hear about it.

I look over to see a Sherman tank, an authentic battle tank used in WWII sitting there. I was on the highway doing 60, and there were a lot of cars, so I am not 100% sure if it was a sherman, by the time I looked, it was halfway behind some trees. What are the chances of that? I honestly about wet myself, and did veer off onto the shoulder for a second or 2, lol How often does somthing like that happen? I am going back right now to check it out. In Minnesota, there is a small town just north of the Iowa border calle Lanesboro that I like to visit. It is about 5 hours north of me. They have many biking trails up there that go for miles. Anyway, there is a town call Preston, population only around 600. The trail goies through this town, and just off of the trail, there is a huge sherman tank sitting there as well. I keep seeing these tanks in the least likely places. It was outside of a run down gas station on a cement slab. The hatch wasnt welded shut, but nothing was inside. I should go make an offer on it, lol

Anyway, I dont understand how I could have missed this tank, it's only 5 miles from my house, and I have lived here for 4 years! I will be back with more info for those interested. Anyone else have any tanks or historical military vehicles in their town? There is a korean war era jet fighter as well, but I have already checked it out, it is in a different area of town. Well, I am off on my journey, I wish my digital camera worked so I could get some pics...... I will try and get some with my regular camera, and then scan them in sometime.
Just thought that this was peculiar, and that I would share it with other people who are interested in this type of thing. Most people you say, "hey, lets go check out that shrman tank"," would tell you, "Ahh, it's just an old peice of iron." I guess it takes a special type of person to realize the true art of an old tank that was actually in battle.
thanks for listening to bme babble...!
