ACAV Recoiless ?
Posted by lizardqing on Saturday, June 5, 2004 11:26 PM
I was just wondering where the base for the recoiless gun on the M113 A1 was kept or it was just kept on the vehicle for use. GOt to looking at the base sitting on the sprue and had no idea how to mount it on the vehicle. Thanks for an help.

From what I have been told, the RR was too darn awkward and heavy to worry about using it dismounted. Fitting it to the M113 was a 'field mod' not a standard production mod and therefore the base was usually left behind.

Another bit for the spares box Chris.

PS Is this the kit that offers an Aussie version OOB? What do you think of the kit all up?

Thanks Peter. Seems the parts box is starting to get crowded now.

It is the Academy kit that offeres the Aussie version. As far as my opinion on the kit , over all it is a nice build. The interior is pretty detailed and comes with alot of accesories to dress it up with. Even has a sprue of coke bottles. Downsides I have noticed are ejction pin marks. Lots of them and very deep compared to normal ones and alot are in hard to reach places.. Biggest problem though is the vinyal tracks. They are too short. They hardley touch let alone are possible to connect but the kit does come with indis so it is not a complete loss. If you have no problem with indis, personally I am not sure for myself yet since I have no real experience with them, I would say it is a great kit to get.
