A perfect recap Bill, thanks!

The only change is a relaxing of the "sealed box" to "sealed bags" and that if the kit is supplied with PE or Zimm, then it's OK. Otherwise as stated, no extras. You guys are going to laugh when I try to make a Maybach out of sprues.

WWII:
The original focus of the build was for everyone to build exactly the same kit on the same day. That was a 1/72 Tiger I. However, it became apparent that not everyone would have easy access to the same kit, so it was modified to be any 1/72 Tiger I, sealed at midnight on Aug 8th, and to be finished (or as finished as possible) by midnight 24 hours later. No after market pieces can be used. Only what's in the kit (including anything that can be fabricated from the sprues.) Pictures to be posted during the build, as available. Ausf is ram-roding the build. (Did I get it all correct, Ausf??)

As far as I know, this is the way it stands now. You are, of course, more than welcome to climb on board.

By the way, you should know that we really ppreciate your idea and your running of this show. It's going to be fun. Thanks!

It's has to be unopened (the plastic bags at least). That's the idea. Most are planning on posting pics of the unbuilt kit on their local newspaper or in front of the weather channel on the 8th prior to starting.

Cool, I have a 1/72 scale Revell tiger 1. It is only built, so it needs paint, weathering, and a base. Will this count, or should I build a new one just for the build?

Thanks ausf!

This has been going on for while so the original idea is probably way back in the posts. The idea was to have the same kit over a 24 hour period.
Here's the one sheet;

They'll be plenty more info before the start date.

I guess it depends what type of voting catagories their were. If it was just "Best overall", 'Best Paint" or more competition orientated classes it might end up that way. but if there were to be fun catagories then it would suggest a more fun feeling to the thing.

Im certainly in favour of some fun!

Larry,
I agree I don't want this as a competition, just fun. I was thinking along the lines of the reader's choice being something like the "Austin Power's Tiger Tank' or a single roadwheel lying in charred dirt as a dio entitled 'Bad day for the 501st'.
If it would be perceived as competitive then I'm certainly opposed...

Laugh [(-D] So I take it the Airfix kit isn't the best out there? Wink [;)]

I'd suggest nay to the reader's choice for best kit, as modeling is about having fun and creating something, not who is the most skilled modeler. Also people go a little ape-poopie when you start deciding who's best, and it may transform the whole feel of the mad day.

The fun part of this, IMHO, is everyone going crazy on a kit together over 24 hour period!

One Mad-Tiger-builder's opinion.

I dropped mine (1/72 Airfix) on the floor in horror after I cracked open the box, kicked it down the stairs because I was afraid it would climb out of the bowl if I tried to flush it, kicked it out the door onto the porch and then the driveway, backed over it and forward again to kill it, picked it up with tongs and put it in my neighbor's garbage, threw the tongs out, went back inside and took a shower to get the stink off....twice.
That's just my opinion though.

Exacto myself in the eye! That is one of the funniest things I have heard. I have done a Airfix !/72 scale tiger model as my second model ever and it was like you say ready to hurt some one lol.

You got it. I expect you guys to be deep into a few pints before I have my coffee.

Maybe we should just leave it that you post your starting pic, ie. box on top of the local August 8 newspaper, then off you go, post comments at will.
I like the starting pick idea because it would work as an informal 'registration'.

The other issue is if we want the original post of the finished pics to be anonymous (I'll post a webpage) so people can pick a reader's choice. Then after votes are in, we can all post in progress stuff at will.

Im just trying to get my head around the time difference. Does this mean that here in Aus, we will be finishing almost as you guys in the US are starting?

I'm rethinking whether I'm going to be naughty and use the turret sides from the later kit, or just do the Tunisia Tiger. Hmmm. (Part of that is selfish -- the Kursk Tigers have a more complicated camo scheme! Laugh [(-D])

I just meant a quick check in, like "lost two roadwheels, track stuck to dog, bent barrel, gotta go, compressor on fire!"

hmm yeah, ok. Sounds like a good idea.
I think we should post on our progress during the day. I don't know if we should all do it at one time.
Maybe you (ausf) should just start a thread on that day that we can all post in, when we have the time.

Mad Tiger Day...Question for participants.
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, June 6, 2004 10:03 AM
The recent reposting has started me thinking of a few things...
I need opinions on this idea:
A one hour window that we would stop and get online as a group to post progress. Of course the logistics are a nightmare for this, but what do you think of this...considering Observed Daylight Savings,

10:00 AM SUNDAY NY
would be...

4:00 PM COPENHAGEN, CAPETOWN
3:00 PM LONDON
8:00 AM DENVER
7:00 AM LOS ANGELES
10:00 PM MANILA
11:00 PM TOKYO
10:00 PM PERTH
12:00 AM SYDNEY

The Pacific guys would be done, the Europeans closing in, the States/Canadians would be real early, and poor Hawaii (well sorry, but look outside, it's real nice).

Is there any interest in this? I mean besides posting all day as things unfold.

BTW I only picked 10:00 AM NY because that would be midnight for Australia, and earlier would kill LA. We can change based on interest.
