I do "factory fresh" on my 1:16 stuff so I can see the little bits &pieces I added,
the armor texture,wood grain on the tool handles,vision block glass,etc,etc.
Guess I'm a rivet counter on my own stuff & I'm scared to cover my own rivets!!
Also, afraid to botch up a long time project cause I'm just not that good at
finishes like some of the fantastic stuff I've seen in this forum!!

I would probably have answered weatherbeaten, but that Tiger has gone past the weather and mud stage and is now into the Winter whitewash and snow. I kind of miss the neatness that it had in basecoat where all that hard work on detailing and texture was evident. Now it's so obscured that I could have skipped most of it.
That's what it's all about I suppose, learning through experience. No base 'cause it moves...
I'm leaning towards 1/72 in small dios after I finish these.

Somewhere in between for me. Mainly because I don't have the heavy weathered look skills yet. Each one I do is a little dirtier than the last. Haven't gotten to mud yet, because...

No base. Something else I'd like to try, but display room is at a great premium (like none!). They usually wind up sitting in a box lid somewhere!

I generally like to weather them quite heavily. Comming from the Aircraft dimension, it's what made armour different and fun. Don't really add caked on mud, as it tends to get overdone, and the effect is usually not what I was aiming for, so I just place a heavy dustcoate, maybe with some texture.
I'd like to have the time or resources to create a dio/base for every model, but that's just not realistic. Most get displayed just by their lonesome selves on a shelf.

Rode hard and put away wet baby!!! The muddier the merrier!!! Unless it would have been factory fresh like the upcoming D-day build where new tanks were rollin off onto the beach... Otherwise all is fair. I like to make my tanks look like the crews drove'em like they stole'em!

I like dioramas for all. I have settled on a standard size for single vehicles. The below diorama is on a base from walmart that I like. So I purchased a bunch of them to use. For multiple vehicles it depends on the idea... but I really like dioramas. It sets the mood...

I usually do mine in-between, and dusty. I don't like mud! Obscures the beauty of the vehicle...and I'm lazy!

Weatherbeaten, but as I get better at the construction stage, I don't go as far as I used to, but it depends on the setting I want it to appear in, which leads to.....

Bases, with groundwork which are a must for me, and dioramas are preferred if I have the time and/or inspiration. Probably vignettes are going to be most common for me; small base, simple 'story'.

I'm somewhere in between, although right now I, building a late model Tiger (Italerei) that Im going to do factory fresh cause I,ll probably give it to my buddie who,s a Tiger nut so I want it clean. But I,ve done mud too.

Well, ive not really dabbled into the weathering department yet, so most of mine look 'Factory Fresh'. I am planning to change this, all my models are as yet unsealed so ive plenty of room to go back and weather them. Ive only so far created a rather good 'Sloppy and quick' field application of white paint, Snow camo to a german Sd.kfz 7/1 flakvierling.

As far as dioramas go, ive once again not really tried much. With my current in production Panzer G and Tiger I I hope to just have them on a basic display base with some plain ground detail.

Depends on the season ..... either real dusty .... or real muddy. I honestly think they sprayed dirt on the tanks as they rolled out of the factory. Tongue [:P]

90% of the time a simple base with no ground, sometimes a little groundwork, and rarely in diorama form.

As a newbie i would like my models to be more weathered but its dificult at first as you feel you might mess it up and make the model look 'wrong'. I think i will try a moderate approach until my skills get better.

Well since I've only built three so far, they have all been weatherbeatened, I guess I get this from my trains modeling Big Smile [:D]

All three are on bases with some ground cover.

In-between. I've just started weathering them harder. I'm not up to the "mud" stage yet. I want my subject to stand out and I'm afraid the mud will overpower it. Perhaps if I were to construct a diorama, then mud would be more important.

I like to weather them like they have been rode hard. That is what makes armor fun to me. As far as displaying them , it just depends on the build and if I can think of some scene to put it in or just how much I liked the build. Plus space is the biggest deciding factor.
