Bottles and what to do with them....
Posted by lizardqing on Tuesday, June 15, 2004 9:11 PM
Ok heres the deal. The M113 kit I am building came with a sprue of coke ( yup, it's all coke!) bottles. Nice little touch for sure. My question though is what to do with them. They are clear styrene and every one of them has a bubble in the center of it. Iw ould like to throw a couple on the 113 to give it a nice added bonus but how to go about painting them or what not so they look good . Any ideas?

Gee...how about taking the top off and let the bubble out! Ha! Not sure there is a good answer short of painting the bottle.

Get some clear green or smoke paint and mix some brown into it, this will give you the Coke color. Add a red top and the Coke decal, and you are set. Sounds like the Tamiya M113 Armored CAV model.

I was thinking something along the lines of that to. Just that I dont have any of that smoke paint. Seems to be one of those things I never think about till after I leave the LHS. Actually it's the Academy M113 A1 , guess one of them stole the idea from the other.

I was thinking... ( I know, we are in trouble now). If the bottles are going to be in an open topped box, just paint the bottom of the box dark brown so the color will show through the bottles. OR, assuming that the bottles will be standing upright, you could drill out the bottoms till you hit the bubble and paint the inside the appropriate color.

Good luck with it.
