1/24 scale armor?
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, June 16, 2004 5:58 PM
I'm passing along a query that came in via our Customer Service Dept.

QUOTE: Greetings,

I am looking for Armor in 1/24 scale to build to set up on a truck and
float combination, I am having no luck finding any.

Any help would be great

Thanks
Doug

After the Hasegawa Willys Jeep, I'm tapped out on recommendations. Anybody know of any more 1/24 armor out there?

Nothing in 1/24.

In 1/25 there's also a Jagdpanther, a couple T24/85's, and an SU-100

Italeri does a 1/24 scale Willys Jeep and a Fire Jeep (same kit with a sprue of fire fighting fittings).

Tamiya does some 1/25 scale armor like the Tiger I, Centurion, T-34, Panther, and Jagdpanther, but many are long out of production. I've got the Tiger I, and it is not a bad kit.

Academy released copies of several of the Tamiya kits. I've got the Jagdpanther and had fun building it.

AMT released the old MPC Hogan's Heroes Jeep about a year ago. I do not recall if it was 1/24 or 1/25 off hand.

ITC (Ideal Toy Company) made a neat kit of the T-92 US Airborne tank in 1/24 scale. Another really cool kit of a tank the US Army only made two of. This one is long out of production.

There are some rather expensive Japanese remote control armor kits in 1/24 scale. They fire airsoft BBs and are made by Mauri or something like that.

A real, real, real long time ago..........

There was a 1/24 scale JadgPanther by Bandai.

I haven't seen it in years, but with E-bay rolling, who knows. You might find one.

The kit wasn't that bad detail wise (it wasn't that good either!). If I remember correctly, the engine compartment was its strong suit.

1/24? I think the fellas have already mentioned everything, so this may be reduntant:

Bandai (all OOP and very expensive if you do find 'em):
Tiger II
Panther G
Jagdpanther
M-60

Tokyo Marui (expensive, BB-firing RC tanks)*
JGSDF Type 90
M1A2 Abrams
Leopard 2A5
Tiger I (out this Summer)

That's it for 1/24, as far as I know (plus the Hasegawa jeep).

In 1/25:
Tamiya (some are OOP and very expensive):
Tiger I
T-34/85
Panther A
Jagdpanther
Chieftain
Centurion

Academy (all Tamiya copies, or based on Tamiya copies):
Panther A
Panther G
Jagdpanther Early
Jagdpanther Late

That's all I can think of right now...

Now I want to know does anyone make PE for these kits? Mainly the Panthers, Tigers, and T-34's Think about the details that you could get at this scale. Only two things better 1/16 and 1/1.
