Tiger kits. Either Academy or Tamiya. They are both good, I think Tamiya is the best. But the Academy models with interior are a good alternativ.

Panzer ??? what do you mean. Pz I, Pz II, Pz III, Pz IV or Pz V. I guess that you don't mean Pz VI because Pz VI = Tiger.

Shermans ............. I have no idea, I have never built one.

Monrad is right. Tamiya is about your best bet for a Tiger. They have early, late and mid variants... Academys are good... Italeri isn't horrible but overall Tamiya is the easiest to build by far.

Pz's As stated above... depends on the model. I prefer DML kits over Tamiya because of the indi links. You would need to pic a version before choosing a manuf.

Shermans, DML does some good ones but the tracks usually scare armor newbies away. Tamiya's newer Shermans are nice and easy to build. The fit is usually near perfect...

Whatever you choose good luck...and glad to have another prophead fading away...Evil [}:)]

DML does a Sherman Firefly Vc. I'm building it now. I find the indy links tedious. I do some track links, then work on something else. If I tried to do nothing but the tracks I would lose my mind. I wasn't impressed with the fit on mine either, and I found the instructions confusing. Shermanfreak is definitely the one to ask about who makes the best Shermans.

The Tamiya Sherman Early is a great build. Tamiya makes a great Panzer III and IV J also. Can't go wrong with Tamiya.

Also Academy has the M4A2 Sherman with flexible tracks. It looks good and according to our resident Sherman expert (Shermanfreak) it has only few inaccuracies.

Good luck.

True ... but they may seem daunting to a new armour builder. Hacking the back end of a hull off isn't a pleasant thought Tongue [:P]

Tamiya's M4 is a great kit, so is their M4A3 and their M4A3 105. All cleanly moulded and very nicely engineered. And the best thing is no indy tracks.
Happy Modelling and God Bless Robert

fubar:

If you're not intimidated by indy tracks, you might want to consider the new release (60th D-Day aniversary) of DML (Dragon's) Panther A-Late. They've added some extra parts to the kit, including a set of PE grilles and a metal barrel, and lowered the price to boot. As far as I know, it's not in stores, yet, but seems to be a good deal.

Hey, Mike, you and ausf ought to get together. He seems to have a similar opinion of me. Anything to keep the waters stirred up!! LOL Hopefully, it will be out soon.

Panthers: The DML kits are very good from what I have heard/read and Tamiya's G variants (steel wheel and late G) are very good. If you see the Tamiya A don't even pick it up, RUN AWAY! It is very inaccurate and the corrections are a bit daunting to say the least.
