Hiya All!

The Title says it all! I just started my 1st Sherman in 20 plus years... And yes it is a Tamiya Jumbo...

Right now I'm addressing some of the known flaws... Armor weld seams and the cast nose transmission cover. I also ordered a TWS Turret I hope it's better than the Tamiya turret...

On the VVSS bogies what is a good choice to replicate the missing bolt head detail on the bogies???

Later all,

Hibrass

The TWS turret is a great improvement over the kit supplied one.
For bolts on the suspension, I suggest a product called Grandt Line nuts and bolts. Should be available from any model train store. Great stuff !!!

Enjoy !!!

Howdy fellas (shermanfreak),

Since I am/portend to be a 'super' detailer of Sherman bogies as of late, I would enjoy any and all input on the subject.
Many thx in advance.

Tread.

If you can't find the Grandt line bolts, plastruct makes a hex shaped rod. I detailed my DML M4A4 by cutting sections of the hex rod for the nut and round for the bolt and gluing them together al la nut and bolt. Time consuming and very trying, but the effort paid off. I suppose one could waste insanity on other things.....

Thanks for the feedback guys!

ShemanFreak, I know of a shop that carries Grandt line stuff, you wouldn't happend to have a Part number would you??? :-)

Renart, I see you are in Florida... If you are near Orlando there is a shop called Colonial Photo and Hobby that carries the Grandt line stuff. Let me know if I can help you find anything there... I have to make a trip out there soon myself..

Later,

Hibrass

I'll post more on the Jumbo as progress is made...... ;-)

Thanks for the offer Hibrass, have to head over that way myself from Merritt Island so I'll stop in. Plan on swinging by Sci fi City to pick through the carcass of what was once their plastic selection and paw through the books. They have almost every Osprey title available. You should check it out. Its only a little further east from Colonial photo, just past 436 (heading East)

Kennthc - AP up!!!! :-)

renarts I will be going to Colonial Saturday so I think I will mosey on over to Sci Fi city... I haven't been there in a "Coons" age... Thanks for the tip on the Osprey books!

In the meantime I received my order for TWS stuff today! So I have a quick little picture attached... The turret is nice, much better size. The flash and part fit leaves a little to be desired... All in all I think it will be worth it just for the Turret. The Barrel is nice, I will save it for a later project as I plan on up arming this one to 76MM!

Later all!
