Duke Maddog's Mista-Progress. (DOH!) Lot's of Pics!
Well, there's been quite a few postings of big scale Armor lately, so I thought I'd help Frosty represent the Braille Scale crowd some more!
I'm starting off today with pics of my mistake (DOH!) I found when I went to put on the decals for my 1/72 scale Revell/Germany Leopard 2A5: The smoke dischargers were too far forward!
I found this after I'd already applied the Future to decal my Leopard; that's why it appears shiny in these photos.
So, at the risk of ruining a pretty good job so far, I took my X-acto blade and cut off the smoke dischargers. Here you can see that there was not too much damage, as indicated by the arrow:
These next two shots show each side of my turret with the smoke dischargers next to it, so you can see that they came off pretty well:
Now, I got them remounted properly, (according to the directions) and re-painted. These shots were taken after I re-applied the Future again:
Now on to my other Project that has been giving me fits like only an ACE kit can! These are photos of my ACE 1/72 scale Sa 13 Gopher mobile SAM vehicle.
This is how my Gopher was looking up to this point:
This next photo shows something that went right. The arrow indicates where I glued a clear plastic part cut from a blister pack behind the window frame for the 'Gunner' and then applied the assembly to the main launcher assembly:
It went on so well and looks good! Too bad I don't have a bust of a Russian gunner to put behind it! Maybe I'll try to find one.....
The next photo shows where there were fit problems mounting the upper hull to the lower hull. They were mostly along one side and at the top of the back panel. A little gap-filling CA and some sanding helped seal them up. The arrows show where the most noticeable gaps were.
The right-hand gap is actually hidden by the SAM launcher in this photo. You can see where I had to sand it by the white areas that the arrows are pointing to.
Now, I was able to get a little more progress done on the Matchbox 1/72 scale Monty's Caravan Scout car. Here it is after I assembled the wheels and painted it:
I just recently got photos of the interior of Monty's Caravan so now I'm getting the supplies I need to scratchbuild the interior furnishings! I can't wait!
My 1/72 scale Revell/Germany Spahpanzer Luchs is coming along slowly due to the intricacy of the undercarriage, but I did take some time to paint a basecoat on my completed turret:
The rest of the kits are coming along as well. I didn't take photos of them because I've only clearcoated them with Future so they are simply shinier than the last photos I took. The Warrior may be some time before I complete it though; I seem to have lost the decal sheet!
As for my Bradley, I still haven't heard any response to the E-mail I sent to Revell/Germany about the broken Bushmaster. It looks like I'm going to have to buy a new kit just for the stinkin' gun!
Well, I hope you like my work. I thought I'd be done sooner than this but I have been more than unusually busy this month.
