Tamiya Panther G (late)
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, June 29, 2004 5:32 PM
I've found one on eBay after having it reccomended to me as a good kit for someone who's less experienced, what can you guys tell about it? Is it accurate? Fit of the pieces? any PE?

I doubt that I'll be getting any aftermarket parts for it, cause I'm saving money for a new computer, at the most, maybe a barrel.

I am building a Tamiya Panther right no, it's a nice kit and detail is very good. Eduard makes a PE zoom kit for it that is also very nice.

I'd rather get engine grilles, really sets off the rear deck. Only about $8.

It is a great kit. The only problem is the one-piece flexible tracks that is a bit tight (unable to simulate sag) but overall the kit is a very good quality kit.

Two things you can do with the tracks:
1.) Build the tank with the sideskirts on to cover the "non-sagging" tracks.
2.) As what I did. Stretch the tracks a little bit to loosen it but do this carefully or you might overstretch it.

Good luck.

I just built it and it practically fell together. I had a PE set for it, but only used about 20% of it. I just tied the tracks down with ship rigging thread. They look okay, you'll be really pleased with this kit.

If all goes well and I don't get outbid I should get it for about $30.33 Canadian plus shipping.

Excellent Kit... It can be built into a wonderful model without the AM stuff. But if I were gonna by one am set for it. get the Tamiya indi link set for it, to me thats the single biggest improvement. and cheap... the kit barrel is fine and PE isn't absolutlely necessary... Though the Aber engine screens are amazing

Tamiya makes a nice set of indy tracks, about $17. I used them on my Dragon Late G. If you're installing schurzen then indies aren't as important IMHO. If you ommit them, I would get some kind of AM tracks.
