If a rich uncle died and left you a very small fortune, which would you rather have (each is 1/35th scale), if you could only afford one:

1) 12.8cm Flakzwilling, mostly all-white metal kit, with flak tower, seventeen crewmen (yes, that's SEVENTEEN crewmen), reference books for the Flakzwilling, OR

2) the Accurate Armour US Army Oshkosh HET?

The Flakzwilling was the giant AAA mount that were in flak towers ringing Berlin, Hamburg and (I think) Vienna. It was two 128mm AA guns mounted side by side. There's one at Aberdeen, mounted on a kind of giant dolly.

Could you specify a bit?
Are you talking about a single ZFlak + emplacement, or an actual Flakturm, with all four Flaks?
'Cause I can see one of the latter if I lean out the window...

I would go for the HET. Mainly because I hate figures and I love big trucks.

FlaK Tower, without a doubt. If its the Peddinghaus kit, snap it up, but there are some small problems with it, nothing that an experienced modeler can't fix. Besides, anything made by a major(read: injection molded) manufacturer will be around in greater quantities for a longer time than other, more limited manufacture. Besides, the Peddinghaus kit is kickass; if you think the Leopold is big, just the gun/turntable assembly is massive. Put that puppy on a tower and POOF you're sleeping on the couch(I speak from personal experience)but it's worth it!

Can you fill me in? It may influence my decision.

Thing is, the AA HET is also a limited resin kit. Then again, maybe Trumpeter will do it as a follow-up to the Faun. The Flakzwilling is a rarer bird. But OTOH, it's German, so who knows ....

Heh heh. How did you make the tower? I don't know what the capital city flak towers looked like.

Found a gallery
LINK (Klick "Seite 11", then "Photogalerie der Gefechts- und Leittürme in Berlin, Hamburg und Wien." - the site doesn't like hotlinking)
But for some reason, I doubt that this is what we're talking about here...

Thanks A_Marx. Yes, as a matter of fact, those are what we're talking about! The Flak towers were huge monoliths in three neighborhoods in Berlin. Apparently they were used as bunkers in the Berlin battle. The twin 12.8cm guns must have been levelled to fire at the Russians. I'd imagine, then, that they attracted massive amounts of Russian artillery fire.

I won't be building one in 1/35th scale! Laugh [(-D]
