Yeah.. I was about to say... the Panthers turret armor hangs past the rear plate by several inches.. so this isn't a kit fit problem...

Glad you asked first instead of sanding it flush... whew... Good job!

Lets see some pics...

I looked at some models on line (of other Panthers) and some reference books I have.....I guess the over-lapping on my model is about the same (scale wise) as the real tanks and models I saw.........thanks all.......

KEVIN,

Could you be a little more specific as to the nature of your issue?, This kit did present some challenges for me (it's been a while since I built it), I don't recall a show stopping fit problem with the rear turret plate. I do recall doing some minor filling with putty in the seam between the side wall over hang and the rear wall. Remeber Spectors comment that the turret is designed with an offset fit up at both rear wall weld seams to the turret sidewall armor plate.

Can you post a pic of your situation?

Steve

Thanks for the reply........I think maybe if I dry fit the rest of the Zimmerit it may look better than is does now....I may have been a step ahead of myself....Blush [:I].....

Have you built this kit before.............? Has anyone had the same problem before?

Italeri has been notorious for fit problems ,but keep this in mind , the rear armor turret plate is overlapped, slightly , by the side plates on panther turrets ,tamiya and dragon also do this , so I would imagine the real one does too . Zimmerit was pretty much standard on all tanks until very late in the war when germany was crumbling , However scale wise the zimmerit is very thin (less than a millimeter ) and will not cover up severe fit flaws , just slight cracks . So anyways ..... very late A tanks and Late G tanks no zimmerit , before that they had it .

Italeri Panther Ausf. A fit problem

Hi,

I'm building the Italeri Panther Ausf. A and I was about to put the amour plate on the rear of the turret and I noticed it didn't fit good at all. Is it me or has anyone else had this problem??? I've heard this kit has had it's share of fit problems but this particular part was WAY off! I'm not using the Zimmerit...just the regular amour plates.....maybe that's where I'm going wrong..Blush [:I]...I thought the Zimmerit was an option (in some sections)........maybe I should try to put the Zimmerit over the regular amour and see how it looks.....Blush [:I]........any help would be great......
