Modern 1/35 accessories and junk
Posted by Cobrahistorian on Monday, April 14, 2003 8:18 PM
Anyone got any sources for 1/35 current issue equipment like rucks, etc? I need tons of stuff to hang on my Abrams models. I found a set of modern water bottles (Evian, Dasani, etc.) from Accurate Armor, but no other equipment. Gotta get some MRE boxes too. I haven't seen the Tamiya accessory set in a loooong time.

I just bought that Academy Tank Supplies II in 1/35 because it has a ton of water jugs, etc.

I think its rather modern, but I was just looking at the water cans to throw around my new armor Im getting ready to build.

My guess is that tamiya is hammering out a reissue of that kit and a decal set as fast as you can say "shock and awe"(sorry I could not resist that). Also verliden came out with some mre boxs.Come to think of it so did tamiya.I bet we see alot of this stuff real soon.I am looking for update sets for curret armor. I am keeping my eye out for that stuff as well..................Good luck and good hunting............

Just watch the news and see what the tanks have on them. Don't look like they carry much but the APC's seem to have heaps of stuff hanging on them.

Ya, i just paid $23 bucks for it off eBay. I need the stuff too. Its the only kit that i have found that comes close.

I also need modern M16A2's. SAW's, 240's and other type of modern light infantry weapons.

I'm in the process of making a major battle diorama with modern infantry. I've found some of the Vietnam era stuff is really right-on for what I'm looking for as fare as posses and such. However, the equipment is out dated. You have to look pretty hard to tell a difference in gear, but the weaponry is a dead give-a-way...

So, with that, I’m right in the same boat as you. And I haven’t found anything that fits the bill.

As fare as MRE boxes. I saw some weird ones on eBay. They were being sold as “authentic” but quite frankly I found the lack of authenticity to be offensive. Its one thing to miss-labeled the box or something, but these were like blue and white and had MRE written on the side of it… Bad news… Anyhow, I believe Tamiya’s “US M151A2 Ford Mutt with M416 Cargo Trailer” comes with Jerry Cans and a whole mess of authentic MRE boxes.

I've got 3 sets of the modern Tamiya accessories (bought them back when they were like $5). I need some of the stuff in the boxes, but most of the weapons like rifles, I have no use for. Probably can spare some MRE cases as well.

I got two of those sets a couple years after desert storm for about $7.00 or $8.00 each.Thought I might need them for a rainy day. I wonder, we would have seen the re issue of that kit by now.I really like the welding bottles that come in that kit. That is a nice touch.

go to www.extradetails.com to purchase printed sheets that are folded into food (MRE) and medical supplies from all sources for all major combatants since WWII.

very similar to the discontinued verlinden sheets
