Hello All,
Thanks for the responses. It is very helpful.
Glad to hear Robert is doing fine. He's a great guy and has helped me on many occasions.
A follow up here. If the Russian and Marine versions are basically the same, why would Academy be bringing out both versions?
I would have thought there would have been substantial differences to bring out two different kits.
Regards,
Joe

The USMC M4A2's were the same as the russian shermans, with the exception of cosmetic changes made by the Marines. The U. S. Army didn't use this variant, but the British and French armies used the M4A2, along with the russians. HTH.

As far as I know there is no differance in the two besides markings, since they were on loan from the U.S. to the Russians. Now there were a few field modifcations the russians did do such as extra mg mounts on the turret but so do all mechanics. Now this is no biggy but the only differace is with the boggie's and that is the russians usually used a combo of the solid dish and pressed steel spoked, the U.S. usually was only pressd steel. I just built this kit myself and it comes with all kinds of goodies.

Hope that helped.

Thanks guys for trying. Just shows how lost we are without adult supervision.
Hoping it's nothing personal or serious, but is Robert doing O.K.?

Joe

Sorry Cap, I don't think he will be checking in anytime soon. Disapprove [V]But I know he will be browsing the forum every now and then.

Joe, I can't be of help either but you may want to e-mail SHERMANFREAK. Just look for his latest posts and click his e-mail icon.

Academy Russian M4A2

Hello All,
Was just wondering what the difference would be from the Russian M4A2 to a U.S.M.C. version?
I know that the U.S.M.C. version could have the wood planking and other minor details, but would there be any major differences?
Could a U.S.M.C. version be made from the Academy kit? If so, what changes would have to be made.
Regards,
Joe
