1/35 Tamiya Merkava Help
Posted by ewc2003 on Wednesday, July 14, 2004 1:54 PM
Hey guys,

Just got my Merkava in the mail today. Got it for $7.00 off eBay. Anyhoo...I haven't been in Japan since 1993, so my Japanese is a little off, and the instructions are in all Japanese. Does anyone have any good ref pics of the Merkava so I know the colors, etc? I'm going out on a limb here and say "Desert Sand" but hey, I could be wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Depending on when you want to depict it, the colors range from a Testors Model Master Armor Sand for early Merkavas to the modern ones with almost an OD Green color.
For Tamiyas Merkava 1, the Armor Snad should work just fine, that is the color I did mine in. Hope that helps some.

You didn't mention what version of the Merkava the kit is. If it's a Mk 3, here are some photos:

I used Testors MM Acrylic "Israeli Armor Sand Gray"-It doesn't match the color in these pictures, but it might be good for some older vehicles. It's kind of a greenish-sand, if that makes sense...

Guys,

Thanks for the inputs... It's the Merkava Mk1. and I was planning on doing it during the 1982 Lebanon / Bekaa Valley time period, so the MM Israeli Armor Sand Grey would actually be just about right on. Thanks again!
