I've seen it before. The camo was kind of an inspiration for mine. You don't see much info of the IR.

Great pic Harry. Do you happen to know when and where it was shot?

Tigerman,
No, I don't have any additional info other than the original page which has a bigger pic of the Panther above and closeups of the IR solution equipment.. It is very interesting stuff..
Here is the link to the page:

I only put one IR sight on my DML Panther and am saving the other two to add to one of these.

Tamiya has a kit supposedly for that version. Dragon also came out with its own version but with too much IR equipment to spare. While I ave built the Tamiya version, I did not install the IR sight and just made mine a Late Panther G with Steel Wheels.

Thanks for the links. Also lots of pics there.

WoHooo! IR Panthers!

I believe it was propoganda shot from the trials but may be wrong.
Here's a few shots of the IR gear:

I also have some of a surviving Panther with IR installed.

That's a good question. I was looking for an IR set back when I was building an E-100, but found nothing.

Thanks for all the great links and pix, guys!

Someone made an IR kit but it is discontinued.. Your best bet is to see if someone will give you their extras from the DML or Tamiya kit..

here's my dumb question:
the track on that IR Pnther looks much tighter than the 'normal Panther sag'
is it because the tank is moving?

I want to say someone like finemolds made an IR set from clear styrene like the Tamiya set but like ya'll i can't remember who made it.

Wildwilliam,
That's actually not a dumb question, because the tank isn't in motion.. I have seen some pics of Panthers without the sag, it just depends on whether the track tensioners have been adjusted.
.
As far as aftermarket parts go..
Cromwell models makes two IR sets, both are discontinued.. Here is one part number..

CA18 £5.00 Infra-Red Equipment - kit provides 2 sets.

I found one on the mission models website , made by New Connection , it looks pretty close to the original , they don't seem to take online transactions through this company however , whats up with that , website but you have to use snail mail or call them directly? I hate giving my card info to anyone in los angeles or any big city , next thing you know you have been maxed out by some stranger !

Dragon/DML makes a "Night Fighting" Panther - #9045. I have seen it listed at various online sellers as well as on ebay. discountmodels.com shows it for $15.16. Might be worth the price just for the IR gear.
