Sd kfz 10/4 with Flak 30 (Italeri) review

I thought this would be an interesting kit to build. From what I read it is based on the "old ESCI Demag kit". I am not familar with that kit. Was it decent?

Hi Joe,

The Italeri Sd.Kfz.10 kit isn't based on the very old ESCI kit; this unfortunately is a rumour that has been circulating for some time.

I have both the ESCI Demag kit and the Italeri Sd.kfz.10/4 with Flak 30 in front of me and the only thing they have in common is they are both models of the 1t H/T. The detail on the Italeri is markedly better than on the old ESCI kit as you would expect with the road wheel detail considerably better on the Italeri kit.

The Italeri kit can still do with some work but will build into a nice kit.

I will be posting full review of the italeri Sd.kfz.10/4 with Flak 30 kit very shortly.

Cheers

The ESCI kit is moulded in a really soft, somewhat greasy plastic. Detail is basic and chunky, the tracks are as stiff as a board and the figures look like they could front up for any football front line - hugely over scale. Despite that, I still like it.

I have heard from 2 guys that the Italeri one is not for the faint hearted, it has many parts that don't fit right, etc, but one guy in my club said he had no probs. End result is if it takes your fancy go for it - you never know if you don't give it a go.

Hi
I recently built the Demag from Revell, which is apparently a rebox of the Italeri kit, which in turn people say is a rebox of the old ESCI kit. Not too sure about the ESCI kit, but the Revell, and extension, Italeri kit is actually a very nice little build. Very decent detail, and I didn't have any problems with fit of any parts.
