Does anyone do a 1/72 Panther with Zim?

Larry, have you got the web address for PART, as I can't seem to find them.

I really want to do a Panther, but to do it properly means zimm.

Karl, I just took a look at the PART zimm on the On The Way website and it looks great on the Revell kits. Take a peek. They even make sets for worn-off zimm.

It has a diecast upper and lower hull that is pre-painted primer gray. You have to chip away at the paint to make the upper and lower hull fit and even file off some of the metal around the forward hull seam. Not difficult to do, but a bit of a pain.

The tracks are one piece vinyl and go on extremely tight. Once the tracks are on, the side skirts are difficult to fit onto the upper hull. My Panther G Early did not turn out too bad, most of my friends say they like it.

I'd go with the Revell kit since I built a Bergepanther that was based on the Revell Panther A/D. It is a better model.

You can always try to make zimmerit on the plastic surface using the hot knife method.

I looked at the Hasegawa Panther with the zim ,but didn't like the look of it. The detail looked a bit on the soft side. I somewhat wary of attempting to fit the Eduard PE to the Revell kit.

Does anyone know what the new Dragon Panther is like in 1/72?

I'm interested in reading opinions of etch zimmerit. It seems the way to go with 1/72nd scale, as it is hard to get proper scale thickness any other way. Zimmerit wasn't all that deeply applied to the tank. The only problem would be chipped off zimm, which I guess is more or less impossible to do.

Hasegawa makes a couple of their Panthers with zimmerit. Kit 31162 comes with resin zimmerit coated replacement parts for the hull and turret. Kit 30025 comes with the Eduard photoetched zimmerit in the box.

Good place to get information on any 1/72 scale armor kits or accessories is http://www.ontheway.us/ Great information there. I have not seen the resin zimmerit, but the PE stuff does not look too bad.

Part from Poland makes photoetched zimmerit for the Revell Panther, which is a much better model than the Hasegawa Panther.
