My first figure....
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, July 23, 2004 11:47 PM
This is my first "EVER" figure. I am quite pleased , I know it's not fantastic , but had alot of fun doing it and look forward to improving. I had the most trouble with the face of course and did it all in acrylick ( oils seem too intimidating) acrylics worked ok, but dry way too fast for fine detail. Look forward to critiques . thanks . Mark

I'l tell ya right now Mark..for a first time, I think you did one hell of a job!! The more you practice the better you will become. I am fine from the neck down but struggle on the heads. I am just now getting used to Oils on the faces.

Cheers

Ditto on the detail, I've never worked with figures only admired the work of those who do. Yours looks great for any attempt, let alone a first. Thumbs Up [tup]

Super job, John. First effort or not, it's really nice. Details are superb. As said above, I'd just dull the cloth bits and I think you'll be there!

Not to shabby John. I love figures, just can't get the results, guess thats why most of my armor is crewless!! Painting faces is something that takes lots of practice. you're headed in the right direction. thanks for sharing. semper fi, mike

hey man, nice job. if u wnat some advice: try under painting the fig in acylics, then doing the finish in enamel over top of that. this way, when your blending and shading and whatever on the fig, there's less chance of the enamel eatin away at the surface. enamels dont dry as fast as acrylics, and to me at least, aren't as daunting as oils. I've done the few I hav in enamels, and this has worked pretty well.
