well, i can add it to mistakes i know to avoid now!
gee, who would have thunk he would not be able to get into his seat thru the door!!

'best' moment for comedy/frustrtion:
trying to get him into the seat w/ the bodyshell still on.
he pops over the driver's seat and ends up upside down in the back seat area.
and won't come out!!
i am shaking the thing like a piggybank . . .
very entertaining. Angry [:(!]Tongue [:P] Evil [}:)]

best moment otherwise:
i have the 'photo studio' out on the patio.
this is a tv table w/ big grey sheet of art paper, cardboard box top
backstop holding up foam posterboard w/ blue art paper backdrop.
quad is in place and i am trying to use 'natural light' from cloudy skies.
one of my 'neighbors' from the apt complex
(someone i see in passing but don't know)
stops and says "did you build all that? . . . that is SO cool" Blush [:I]
felt pretty good. Smile [:)]

hehe, don't you just hate it when that little thing escalates into a major pain in the @$$.
Still, finished product looks like it was more than worth the effort. Can't wait to see some more pics on the GB site.

Larry and Towed Gun gang -
i wrapped up the Quad last night.
or at least as wrapped as it will get w/o a base of some kind.
i cannot put pastels on it w/o securing it, as i will need to handle it to
move it around from shelf to shelf.

of course the "one or 2 things to finish" turned into a comedy -
i put the mirrors on, put BMF on the headlights, then tried to put the driver in.
and discovered you cannot get him in his seat thru the door!
so i popped the seat off (on purpose), hoping i could put him in the seat and then put the seat back on.
the seat sits on a little frame, which sits on the floor.
so i glued his butt to the seat (after fooling around w/ putty). still could not do it.
so i had to take the body off the chassis.
and then i discovered that the 'correct' mounting of the seat did not leave room for the driver behind the steering wheel.
so i popped the frame off the floorboards, shaved the mounting pins off the frame, glued the frame to the seat,
and then wormed the driver in place w/ hands on wheel which mounted the frame back maybe 1/10" from
the original position.
put the body back on the chassis, eventually breaking one of the mirrors.
fixed the mirror.

by then i was more than ready to take some pictures and call it done!
i emailed them to Larry for the GB site, but here is a teaser :

some of the pics suffer from 'macro-itis'
or "gee, that does not look so good when it's 3 times normal size!"

Larry

Site looks great.

Guys, your work looks great as well. I particularly like the dio of the 88.

This is good for me. I have been away for a month and haven't had the motivation to finish up my dio. This has provided the spark I need to get back to work. I will TRY to have pictures soon.

looking forward to seeing it.

i don't know when my dio will be finished, i just wanted to get the pics
of the kit up, and the base allowed for more dramatic posing.

I'm currently working on the dio itself, and I suspect it should be done in about two weeks. I'll get around to snapping up some pics then. It's long overdue.

thanks Dwight!
tho it is embarrassing to call my unfinished base a diorama w/ your 88 dio
on the same page!
(and Rebelreenactor's dio too!)
i still have to put down the grass, plant some weeds and repaint the rocks
(which i cleverly sprayed green!)

thanks again Larry for ramrodding the GB and for hosting the build site.
i hope the other builders will send along some pictures of their builds.
i will be wrapping up the Quad & 25 pounder in the next week
(there, i said it, now i am COMMITTED!!) Smile [:)]
so the rest of the gang who are running behind, don't be bashful!
and if you finished on time, what's the holdup ?! Big Smile [:D]

Guys, just to let you know, I've updated the Towed Gun build with Ed's pics, and jratz's too! Great stuff. Click the link below if you want to check out the builds.

Guys, if you built something for the group build, send me some pics and I'll create a specal page just for your build. It's ok if you were late -- I am too!
