Even though I was a crew man back in the way back, I don't know the dimensions you're asking for. Next best thing, I'll give the dimensions of my 1/35 scale gun and let you do the math. Gun is 48mm long from mantlet to muzzle. Muzzle outside diameter is 8mm, tube outside diameter is 5.5mm. Hope you can figure it from there.

Question about the dimensions of the M551 Sheridan gun
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, August 2, 2004 9:12 AM
I've a couple of questions about the M551 Sheridan tank's main gun:
- what was its length (from mantlet to muzzle, not including the breech inside the turret)
- and what was its diameter (not the bore, which is obviously 152mm, but the total diameter)

This information would be handy for my future toy rebuild project (yes, another!). The original toy has a very inaccurate
gun barrel which will need to be replaced - I need to know what size of styrene tubing to look for!

This site http://afvdb.50megs.com/usa/m551.html has a lot of data on the M551 but no gun dimensions.

Again, any help would be appreciated!
