Well, I found the color plate I was thinking of, but it is a SdKfz 6/2, not a 7/2. Sorry!
They look very similar.

I just printed the pictures out on my printer. This is the third variation of this Halftrack I have seen, and it was unknown to me until now. Thanks again for the pictures, as it now means that I have to make a third kit-bash, with the Flak 36 gun.

One with the Quad 20mm Flak gun
One with 37mm Flak gun (flak 37 not the Flak 43 ~ although it just donned on me that
most likely it was added at the end of the war)
And one with the Flak 36 37mm gun with the different arrangement for the gunner's shields.

My wallet just took another hit .....!Black Eye [B)]Big Smile [:D]Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]

Again thanks for the info and PLEASE keep it coming to me!

A casual look through my books netted this one;

With some 400+ titles to paw through, I'm not always sure where to look. I know I have a color plate in one of my Concord books, but I haven't found it yet.

As Matt stated, the Osprey modeling manual #5 is probably the best reference for building this vehicle.

the book Intermdeiate Military Vehicle Modeling by Osprey, manual No. 5, shows step-by-step pics of the build ups of both of these vehicles. The author seems a little high-nosed to me the way he describes how he, in his all-mighty, god-commanding position, wants it to be built by everyone else, but he does offer some very nice shots of the platforms, interiors, mounts and guns of both vehicles. and some of the extra detialing ideas are fantastic. you really should check it out.

dont know how much I got it for, but for reference, its got a pic of a panther on the cover, and the series editor is Jerry Scutts. hope it helps.

BTW- u can almost surely get the book from ur local house-o-hobbies, or from online form a store or auction place thingy.

Hi All. I am planning a kit-bash where I am going to do two vehicles, both being the SdKfz 7/1 and /2 vehicles. I intend to replace the Tamiya supplied 20mm gun with the 37mm Flak on the first one (the one without the armoured cab~ SdKfz 7/2) as this is the more common version of this halftrack. Does anyone have or know of links or pictures of this vehicle they could point me to. I especially need pictures of the mounts for the flak gun, on the floor of the vehicle, and any shots of the 37mm itself. Note, this is not the Flak 43 gun, as that was a later install.

I also need any photo's of the 7/1(the halftrack with the armoured cab) as any or all pictures or links would be greatly appreicated!!

Tamiya picked the uncommon versions of both vehicles, as the more common ones were the SdKfz 7/2 (37mm flak) with the unarmored halftrack, and the SdKfz 7/1 version with the armoured cab (20mm quad gun)

Thanks All!
