Preliminary Assembly SCHWERER SWS WEHRMACHTSSCHLEPPER Pics
Posted by yw18mc on Thursday, August 5, 2004 8:15 PM
I had posted an earlier thread indicating I would be taking this on as my next project. These are some early pics of my basic assembly up to this point. First pic is the chassis assembly. the next pic is the cab assembly. the next pic is the bed assembly. the next pic is the chassis, cab, and bed, mated together, with road and track wheels. This will all come apart for final fitting, wash, and drybrush of chassis, and assembly of individual treads. The basic components have all had a base coat of panzer yellow applied since preliminary assembly, and the running gear has had preliminary flat black applied. Now comes the fun part building up the individual links. I must say this has been an enjoyable build up to this point. hope the treads work out ok. I have have gotten some good points reading some of the tips our more experinced modellers have pasted on, and will be trying to apply those pointers as I buildup the treads. Wish me luck, and patience. Hope this post has been entertaining, and perhapes helpful to newer modelers. semper fi, mike

Looks great so far Mike. One of these days I must try one of those softskins myself.

How do you pronounce this kit again? Wink [;)] That is a good looking model you have going Mike. Cool step by step. Thanks for sharing your progress. I might have watch out for this kit.

Thanks for the compliment Dwight. I think you'd probably really do this kit the justice it deserves, and besides you need a break from all that heavy armor. Eric, I think the english translation of this beast is: "stake bed truck that drives like a tank". We're gonna attach a little piece of firepower to her rearend just to keep her respectable. semper fi, mike

Ah yes Mike, the Pak 40. I see that Greatmodels has a preorder on AFV's kit. It'll make a nice Christmas gift for me.

Nice job Mike. I've been waiting to see some progress since you last posted that you'd start this beastie. Can't wait to see it with the tracks on. Something about the way they look, so nice and heavy.

Thanks for the comments guys. I think the camo will really make this baby, I'm anxious to move to that phase, but I've got to get started on the track buildup also! The "EMPRESS", said I need to mow my jungle out in the front yard so I better get that out of the way first. I'm sure you married guys know what I'm dealing with there? hopefully I'll get some more progress pics in a few days. the best is yet to come. semper fi, mike
