JJ Fedorowicz "publisher out of print" clarification needed
Posted by Nuno Andresen on Tuesday, August 10, 2004 3:49 PM
Guys, reading Squadron July Suplement page 14 presents some JJ Fedorowicz books with the tittle "Publisher out of print get them while you can"

What does this means?

Is JJFedorowicz closing or are these books sold out by the publisher?

I just looked at JJFedorowicz web site and no evidence of any of these situations is visible. Books are there and no sad announcements ( Great! This was my personal fear)

If anyone can make this situation clear please tell me.

My wife works in the publishing industry and has not heard of Fedorowicz going out of business. Then again she doesn't pay much attention to "our" side of the book world, (i.e. military books). More than likely the distributors are running out of particular titles and many of these high priced hardcover military books have very low production runs. It has been my experience that when I see a title that even remotely interests me, I snap it up, because you never know if and when you will ever see it again. I'll have my wife check into this matter just to make sure.

On my wife's recommendation, I just checked with Publishers Weekly .com, "The Internation News Source for Book Publishing and Book Selling". A search through their archived newsletters with the keyword "Fedorowicz" brought no returns. So, either the publishing world has never heard of JJ Fedorowicz Publishing or there has not been any news about them in the recent past. I think the adage; "No news is good news" applies here. Still, we will investigate further.

I received some recent stuff from them and they're mentioning upcoming releases. As Peridexion stated, they have limited runs similar to textbooks because of the lack of wide appeal. My guess is squadron is just trying to drive some sales.
