Pfc. Green : If all tires deteriorated evenly and at the same time. That could only mean that environmental factors could have caused them. I am not sure though.

Jwest: Not really. But when applied too thickly, sometimes clear coat develops cracks especially when applied on rubber.

Does acrylic dull coat also deteriorate the tires? I have an Acadamy Flanker with the vinyl, misted with dullcoat. It has been almost 2 years and so far so good

Yeah, sometimes the tires react with certain chemicals in paints and glues. The Auto guys hate vinyl tires. There is a way you can prolong the life of these tires... spraying them with... something i can't remember. Laugh [(-D]

There was a thread about it in the Auto section, but it was fairly old, and got sweeped out when the admins did some spring cleaning. Try posting this question there! Big Smile [:D]

What paint did you use for the tires? Did you use any clear or dull coat?

I built the new Tamiya Humvee about a year ago, and the tires are starting to crack (the model is not in the sun, or in a humid place)...anyone know why? and is thery a way to stop it from spreading?
