What the he(( ! I'm in! Just pick a time. I saw a M26 Pershing (Tamiya) that a guy in our model club built in one weekend less the paint so thats doable but I don't i could bring myself to do that. Maybe a deuce or steyr truck. Something without tracks...

Holly LOL! I live most of my time in 1/35th scale, so every weekend is a "mad 1/35th weekend"! I doubt I could be in, but I'll watch on the sidelines, with a Coke in hand ....

I could work a weekend build into my schedule in January and it would give me plenty of time to come up with a kit. One thought however, I consider that my weekend starts on Friday at 6:01 pacific time (work day over) and ends Sunday night, wouldn’t it be nice to have the extra few hours for a “weekend” build?

I'm intrigued by this build and I dropped out of Mad Allied build due to schedule conflictions. Might just have to build a Panzer II, been many an eon since I built it.

Definitely not Superbowl weekend! There is a week off between the conference finals (Jan 23rd) and the Superbowl (February 6th) That would be perfect! OK everyone, how does January 29-30th sound for a Mad 1/35th Build?

I think waiting is a great idea, but don't let that stop you from doing it. There are endless builds going on and it would be impossibe to accommidate everyones schedule. I'd just probe for the date most members can participate.

We could do it in December, or if the Holidays get in the way, January. I think the key is to plan enough ahead that people can schedule it- plus it gives us all time to find "the right kit". Thoughts on possible dates?

I like the idea and definitely think it's worth doing and waiting a little bit might be the best bet since there are a lot of GBs and ideas floating/competing for participants at the moment.

Off the top of my head I currently know of the StuG GB starting the 16th (Monday), the Mad Allied Day (possibly Aug 29th), the T-34 Mad Day TBD but kicking around Sept dates, the Mad Fokker Day on Oct. 17th, and the Bulge GB on November 1. Lots of things happening in a short space of time to try to coordinate and organize simultaneously. That's not necessarily a bad thing as it shows a lot of variety and activity but it does make for a crowded field. Big Smile [:D]

Oh I have a Panzer II at home to do but I am in 3 other builds and committed to do 2 more so as much as I want to do this one all I can say now is a maybe. Somehow tho I just cant bring myself to say no. Most likely I will be a last minute entry.

I am going to echo a lot of the other's sentiments. The idea sounds inviting, but I am already in deep with projects. i do have a Kubelwagen that I would be willing to bash together, but everything else in the stash I seem to have big plans for, or at least want to do a great job on.

So all I know is, my gut says maybe.....

These Group Builds are like vacuums, they suck you right in on the wave of excitement. All of sudden, group builds are everywhere. It's frustrating, because I want enough time to do a good job and there are so many I want to be in. I can't have both in it shows in how many are still on the table.

Were you thinking the weekend of the 29th? I am open to any time suggestions. Does the 28th-29th work for anyone? Or do we need more planning time? Sorry- I am new to this. The build would be open to any OOB 1/35th armored subject. Any other suggestions on setting this up are welcome

oh, sorry edog. I misread your post. As for Dragon kits, I ruled them out too. For once I would be happy to open a box and see rubber bands!! A lot of the earlier Tamiya kits would do. Their Panzer III and Stug III look promising (although that may step on the toes of the Stug III group build. Of course, you could always say "It took you how long to build your Stug III???" just kidding.)

I think with the need for simple kits to do in a weekend, artillery and Flak guns would be fine. Just by limiting the time on this would limit what kits could be done, so there would really be no need to limit it further.

It's an intriguing proposition, no doubts there, but the stakes are much higher depending on the subject matter. Something relatively cheap and uncomplicated like the Tamiya Pz II would be neat, but I wouldn't attempt it with anything in my current stash. Even working steadily on weekends it takes me 3-4 weeks to complete something to my satisfaction and that's OOTB. I would think it would need to be pretty well defined to draw enough participants.
