oddball's sherman (Kelly's hero's) pic.
Posted by maffen on Saturday, August 14, 2004 11:27 AM
hi mates Big Smile [:D] here's some pic. of oddballs sherman from the movie : kellys heros for a small dio that's in the making . as usual comments are greatly appreciated http://gallery89512.fotopic.net/c256768.html there's going to be 5 figs. on board also : oddball, the dude with the red fez , kelly behind the .50mm , moriarty, and the driver. the bottom of the roadwheels are not in contact with the track becuase they need to bee adjusted to drive over a small drywall Wink [;)] hope you like them + some shots from the movie itself.

Superb weathering Maffen. Did you scratchbuild all the extras such as the loud speaker? Looking forward to the dio and figures.

Nice work Maffen, How did you do the bedrolls?
Not to be nit picky but the lanter needs to be weathered, LOL!
Very nice build though I hope that with a little more practise and knowledge I will be able to build like that Smile [:)]

I kinda figured you were Smile [:)] I seen all the other detail you did and I wasn't trying to critique you or something Blush [:I].
By the way how did you build the rolls on the back behind the turret, they are to big to be bedrolls, so I am assuming tents? They are cool.. Cool [8D]

no,no rusty no problem love some comments Wink [;)] the tentrolls are as usual : first roll some tissuepaper in your rolls ,bend it with string and let it soak in 50-50 water/white(wood)gleu when they are dry , paint them and for the straps: for every tie made from string i put a strap over it (just to hide the string) so one have 2 and the other 3 straps. strape were made from 0.5mm(thickness) plastic strip rapped around and cut at one end in a point. then where the buggle comes, just a small piece of the same plastick in a square and on top a small piece bend in a U-shape.thats all really Big Smile [:D]

hi willian, i know what you mean mate Big Smile [:D] there's a flaw in the movie;when kelly together with oddball come to the camp where the 3 shermans are, they go to one where morriarty is working on the engine,on that one as oddball explains (loud music, speaker bla, bla, bla)you see the speaker on the right side (i guess it's for filming purposes only) in the rest of the movie you will not see that one again Dead [xx(] only were oddball in on top and there it's on the left Big Smile [:D] also if you make a shermie from the movie you can make one with exended fenders or not (even on oddball's sherman in one scene you see it with and the other take without ext.fenders) as there are so many more mistakes(hey it's a funny movie Big Smile [:D])

Nice work, Maffen! The colors are perfect!
That's the fun of trying to build a movie vehicle: trying to keep up with the inconsistencies!

It is one good replica of Oddball's Sherman. But unless you put an Oddball figure in there I won't tell you that it looks superb and great. LOL.

Just kidding my friend..great job as usual.

hey guys, awesome build there maffen!! I LOVE that movie!!!

BTW, if uve got the vid, check that part where Kelly and Oddball r talkin by the Shermie, sometimes the film people reverse the film for certain reasons. check if there's a part of the tank that's supposed to be on the left side also, but is on the right in that take.

NE who, I always thought they had two loudspeakers, one on each side tanx for sharin!

Boy and I thought it rained here. Almost 2 months with no rain, practically a record for out here. However, they say it will rain tonight.

Excellent job. Oddball would be proud of the job you have done. It truly does justice to one of my favorite movies. I sometimes wonder why the US never thought of up-gunning the Sherman. In this case, like the Yugoslov's did to 85mm. Makes me wonder if they called this a "Yugoman" instead of a Sherman? OK, I think its time to move on.......

Luc,

Hey, that's going to look good, man!! Smile [:)] All you need now is sound track of "Burning Bridges"..... (a sound track of burning bridges... hmmm, that would be nice, wouldn't it?) Wink [;)]

You done well by "Sherman", can't wait to see it come together! Thanks!

Take care,
Frank
