Hey there Joe and everyone else.

Gee you sure got a lot done there Joe, nice work. I am glad it's not a race!

I started my King tonight; no pics, but I may take some in a day or two.

I am having my first go at zimmerit on this one, so I spent tonight looking over the hull parts over that get zimm, and drilling out holes etc. I got a bit done, too, the front hof the hull. I am using the technique of rolled miliput, stabbed with a screw driver. I am going to try other methods too, one day. Here is a link where I got my method, and I think FSM showed a similar trick in their Zimm special.

http://firestorm1.topcities.com/how/zimmerit.htm

It was alot easier than I thought it would be, once I got over the initial learning curve, and above all it was FUN! The results were pleasing, though I have scene much better zimm here on the forum, but I think I will improve.

I'll get pics up this week, I just wanted Joe to know I had done more than just take the kit to the bench!

Keep on trucking joe! I'm like you, weekends are the productive times for me to build, just can't get much in on the weekdays due to work and other obligations.

ok i have several hours on this project now. and good progress to report. i have not been following the instructions exactly. i have been getting the shell ready for painting. so hatches, doors, framing, and such is being put on. and good news that is nearly done.

going to do some more of the same for the next hour or so. and then pics to show some progress.

as my best building time is on the weekends this progress will seem rapid but overall the build time will be the same.

Recovered !!! No way, Dead [xx(]Tongue [:P] but I thought it would be best to get back on the
Tiger horse, and I had a nice article about this model that inspired me.

Ok Joe you beat me to it, I was thinking about a King Tiger group build as I has just started mine. Im building a Tamiya KT, and Im building it as a late war KT without zimmerit, no skirts and little or no tools. Also it will be painted in red oxide primer and with the dunkelgelb and oliven gruen making up the camo. I am using modelkasten tracks and maybe I will get a set of Aber PE for it aswell.

now let me say any and all are welcome to join in on this deal. we are building king tigers, tamiya and dragon are mentioned. but feel free. as i am still new to this i will be using this to voice my cries for help. matt has been kind enough to join me in this project. but all are welcome to join in my feeble attempt to build a passable king tiger. this is kind of a watch me fumble my way through an online build.

There are worse fates for a KT! Big Smile [:D] I didn't know Dragon had one with a die-cast hull...my first reaction would be that's pretty neat but then it would be followed by headscratching on what exactly to do with it from a build perspective. Big Smile [:D]

I think it is pretty informal Ausf. My friend has a Tamiya King , and there may have been a couple of others building similar things too. The idea came about because me and Joe had the same kit and I wanted to lend some moral Zimmerit support, (you know misery loves company). Have a look at the NSLHS and see what you find, be cool if you join in.

What are you guys got planned here? I know I asked to join before with a 1/72 but forgot what the deal was. Is this a mini group build or just starting something at he same time?
I have the Dragon Konig, but it has the die cast hull so I'm not too excited about it. May slide by the NSLHS and see what they have lying around.
