I know Tamiya makes a very good jeep but it just comes with the driver.

You could check Verlinden's website http://www.verlinden-productions.com/ or http://modelmecca.com/ for the stuff from VLS but I dont know of any off hand

i got that kit! it comes with 3 figures, the driver, a guy with a carbine, and a guy with a recoilless rifle. the jeep can be built with a top, no top with railings, and no top no railings. comew with a trailer too. i havesnt built tamiya's jeeps so i don't know witch is better. it comes with decals for over 4 types of jeeps, pacific and western europe. all ww2 i'm pretty sure.

The best Jeep done is the new one by Tamiya that just includes the driver figure (35219). It does not include any other crewmen.

The next best set of jeeps was done by Italeri. They boxed this kit in several variants, but all were basically the same base jeep kit. Variants included a jeep with trailer, driver and two ground troops; ambulance jeep; and commando jeep.

Revell of Germany reissued the Italeri jeep with a rear machine gun but no figures. It was kit #03015 and probably the best version of Italeri's jeep.

The only jeep that comes with a rear machine gunner is the old Tamiya jeep kit. It was number 35115 and is long out of production. The jeep came with a driver, passenger and rear gunner as well as a trailer and standing MP officer directing traffic. It also included an optional canvas top.

Not an expert on jeeps, but I do have most of the available jeep kits in 1/35 scale. I just finished the old but respectable Tamiya SAS Jeep. It was a fun build.

The only one that I know of that has a gunner was the old Tamiya kit as Ron had mentioned. I built the kit a long time ago and then rebuilt it about two years ago.

I don't know what happen to my gunner. I must have used him for somthing else.

Is the AFV Club's version of the M38A1C any good? Which jeep kit would be appropriate for a Bulge Dio? Thinking ahead to my group build.

Either Tamiya, Italeri, or Heller Willys MB or Ford GPW are right for WWII. Probably the best model is the Tamiya one for ease of build, Italeri's versions are nice too. The AFV Club M38A1C is great kit, however, it is Korean war , 1950s varient, not produced till after WWII.

Well Gino, I read your posts about accuracy and hoped you'd pick up on this thread. You even specified this very fact, so I figured you'd be the man on this. Thanks for the info. Apparently the Tamiya kit is OOP, but still can be purchased, just not from my mainstay (Hometown Hobbies). I will hunt one down. Thanks again Gino. Any input on AM kits that are worth it. I really like Aber, but there may be a better one.

Again, thanks for everyone's help on all my questions.

I am pretty sure I may still have the old Tamiya rear machine gunner. I do not believe I got rid of him. He may be poorly painted but he would be complete.

A question for the more experienced out there. I want to get a good PE set for the Tamiya Jeep kit and was wondering which is better - Aber or Verlinden, or is there one that is even better than these. Thanks in advance for the help.

First, the tamiya is the best kit of wwII jeep. The italeri looks good and priceless.

About detail sets, i think there is a difference beetween Aber-eduard and verlinden-legend.
The first is photoetched set only, great quality, but without added resin part.
attention with compatibility, one are done for italeri, but i'm not sure.
See http://pmms.webace.com.au/models/vehicles/tam35219.htm

And, if the price is not a problem, i advise you to bought the verlinden or legend productions kit, with a beautiful M2HB machine gun ! in the same set, there is photoetched part and resin part.
About the quality, it's the same.

If you need help, there is a lot of real jeep in france....

Leclerc74,

Thanks for the input. I saw that the Verlinden upgrade kit was for the italeri kit. Wonder if it would work on the Tamiya? I suppose I will but either the aber or eduard PE set. Great link BTW. I will print it off and read it tonight.

Thanks,

Ted

If you need reference stuff, go to http://www.g503.com/ This is probably the largest site on the web for everything MB/GPW, and a lot of the guys there have their own websites as well.

Yes you're right about the verlinden one, but i think it's not a big problem.

I had a look last year on this kit, it should be ok on the tamiya kit, but i'm not sure.
Yes, i will start in next future my jeep tamiya kit, but it's the same question as you about the after market kit. Maybe i will try with the legend production, it's look good.
Now i 'm trying to finish a gun truck from vietnam, it's hard ! my airbrush compressor is out of order, i would to build another one with refrigerator compressor....so i'm little late

see you

and please excuse me for my approximative english !

Leclerc,

I have decided on the Aber set and the Verlinden set both. I read that article you posted and it seems he used a little of all of them. I would like to see the legend product you spoke of, but I don;t know where to find it.

Please post pics of you Gun Truck when finished in a new topic. I would like to see it. Also, don;t worry about your english, I am an old hillbilly, I barely have have a grasp on it and I have been speaking it my whole lifeApprove [^]

Ted,
email me your address. Pretty sure I still have the gunner from the old Tamiya kit. Still have most of the kit that I got with an old Nichimo one. No boxes or instructs. Never got around to builiding either of them. If I can find the guy, he is yours.
