I've got numerous shots of my desert tan M1IP if you need them. I am in the process of super detailing the lower hull. Too bad no one makes correct early T-156 style tracks. If you look at the Tamiya M1 and M1A1 tracks (and Academy M1A1 copy) as well as the poor Esci M1 and M1A1 kits (long OOP), you will notice that the center guide is in the middle of each block instead of straddling two adjacent track blocks. I had to settle for a set of Trumpeter late style M1A1/2 T-158 tracks.

Some of the other faults that I'm correcting on the old Tamiya M1 chassis are the heater exhast, rear grills and tow pintle, bilge pump, fire extinguisher actuator, lifting rings, #1 side skirt tubing and the taillight guards. Here is a photo of some earlier work I did:

Right one is the one I worked on, left one is an unmodified one that was just painted. I've done a lot more to it ans will post more photos later.

Hey everyone,

In doing a little research on M1IPs (or IPM1s, the Army can't seem to make up its mind on the correct nomenclature!) I came across this website.

It helped me a bit, although I'm working on a Desert Storm participant instead of one from the NJ National Guard (I'm a New Yorker dammit!)

I don't have any photos of them, but Tamiya relesed a gulf war markings decl sheet tht hs many of the common markings used by all combatants. The decal sheet is copyrighted in 1992 and is product #0392sa.

I've got one of the old DS M1IPs, no real markings on it any more though. You need to steal the bustle rack and grunt rails off of an A1 kit but keep the short turret sponson boxes.

My scanner is down hard, but I did find some shots if you can find "The Armored Fist", Time-Life Books. pp16, 124, and 150/151 have pictures of 105mm armed M1s from the 24th ID in the gulf.

Anyone got any good visual references for a Desert Storm IPM1?
I just assembled and painted the Tamiya M1 kit and I'm looking for some good markings for it.

Thanks!
