I used Panzer Interior buff on the inside of my 251. Not too sure if it is entirely accurate but alot of pics I found did have semi-white interior. Then again I read alot that the interior was left either grey, that sand color or the original rusty-brown primer color. Either will work I suppose. I prefered the white because it contrasted nicely. I was only able to get ahold of a couple of color pics and coincidentally they both showed white/buff interiors.

When I built that Kit I found it to be beyond inaccurate, So I added an interior to make it a little more accurate.

his a couple a pics
its funny, I used to be so proud of this thing. Now I look at it and say, nnnnnot so good. But I am sure I will do that in 10 yrs w/ the models I am building now.

Good luck on you build.

QUOTE: Use toilet paper...

No, no, no. Sorry, my bad. Blush [:I] I meant tissue paper. Thanks for sorting me out, Ryan

A really good conversion (and easy too ..!) would be to get the "Stuka ZU Fuss" kit, take the rocket assembly from that kit, and put it on this Halftrack. This was the more common version of this, the Sd.Kfz 251/1 28cm rocket launcher. Both are Tamiya kits, and that makes them "shake and bake", and the early Tamiya 251/1 C is OK. Remove the rivetts, do the weld-seams with a pirogurveur (SP?), and this makes it the late "C" version. Don't forget to place PE treadplate on the floor where the driver and the co-driver sit. Read the articles on AFV Interiors on the 251, and the Squadron/Signal book as well for further info

Or you could do a search on the net, for "Sd.Kfz 251" and print out the pictures of the 251/8 ambulance version, as this is 80% of the Tamiya kit OOB.

This exact kit-bash, as above, is on my work-bench right now. (251/1 /w 28cm rockets)

Tissue paper rolled into shape, brush a mixture of elmers glue and water all over it. Set it aside to dry for a day or so, then take a thinned mixture of your preferred color and paint it. Drybrush as you wish and take some thick black or brown thread to secure it on both sides. Easy. Search the forums, there are many posts on this subject. Any more questions please feel free to email me at trlamb@hotmail.com

Use toilet paper soaked in a 50/50 mixture of white glue and water. Let it dry on the vehicle then paint and weather it.

Yeah scrap the water tank. Add a rolled up tarp somewhere and fill that 251 with all sorts of goodies ranging from weapons (K98, Panzershreck, Grenade and ammo boxes) to foodstuffs and anything else you may think a German grenadier would take with him. They lived in these things for long periods of time, so it was common to see pin-ups on the reverse sides of the MG shields, reading materials scattered about and war trophies. Let your imagination be your guide.

There's some issues with that kit although it's pretty good. The most obvious is the large water tank over the transmission, it shouldn't be in a 251/1. It was used in the 251/8 ambulance version.
