I agree with those above. Another option to getting the laser reflective coating is to paint the vision blocks, etc black. Once dry, lightly coat with clear red, same you use for tail lights,. Yu should still be able to see the black through it. Now coat with gloss, and you get a pretty realistic looking laser reflective coating.

It's been awhile since I've built a bradley, but I always like to leave clear parts off until after I paint if possible. This is much easier [for me]. I,m better at putting on bits later than masking. Good luck!

Either way is proper. But that vehicle uses a laser reflective coating on all the optical surfaces. It gives the glass a pearlesque property not unlike the old Polaroid sunglasses.

I normally tell folks to find some mylar party ribbon that has a pinkish orange tint to it. Then use the clear parts as a guide to cut the ribbon to shape. You can also use the portion of an old film negative and do the same thing.

What Bits Do I Leave Off?

Hi armor people,

I am making the Tamiya M2A2 Bradley ODS kit as a bit of a diversion from aircraft and have a question about assembly order and painting.

Do I leave off the bits of the kit containing the clear parts (sights, optics etc), paint the vehicle and then put them on. Or do I assemble the whole kit and mask the clear parts, then paint?

I am sure you guys must have done this a hundred times before, so any assistance would be appreciated.

Cheers
Darren
